I have a few questions about how your "vol walk" takes place. Do the players stay in a hotel or facility in Knoxville and start their walk from that location? Do the fans line up to form a tunnel and get to high five the players? How long does this process take?

Dave Christensen brought this walk tradition from Missouri where I assume they do the "tiger walk" and as far as I know Mizzo, The Vols, and now Wyoming are the only 3 schools doing something like this.. I'm going to my first "Cowboy Walk" tomorrow before the Texas game and just wondering what to expect

there are lots of teams doing a version of the Vol Walk. The players now start from Circle Park on campus (used to be their dorm) and go down to the stadium. I believe the walk is now roped off but it used to be pretty crazy for them. No tunnels but they did high-five, etc. I would guess the actual walk takes about 15min

Ole Miss has the same tradition through the Grove. They are nothing new and any schools do this.

That's real helpful.. thanks

Go easy, cowboy. I'm sure he meant no disrespect by it, but some of us are still pretty sore about that game last year, and not many places on the planet are quite like Knoxville on gameday... :hi:

I have been to a game at Ole Miss and tailgated in the Grove and didn't see this walk.. I probably arrived to late. I'm pretty sure no MWC has a "walk" the involves the fans like this.. so it's all new to me.

Sorry, just getting anxious about the game tomorrow.. I'm hoping we can beat the "other UT" this year :)

We gotta hold up our end of the bargain in taking down some Big 12 teams. With Colorado up next plan on seeing "Hawkins Fired" after Sept 19th!!!

Hope Christensen is as good as a head coach for the pokes as he was OC for the tigers. I hated to lose him, but it was inevitable.

CornPoke, good luck on your game. I hope you guys win. Anyone with additional info for him? How about some jpeg pics of the Vol Walk for CornPoke and the rest of us?

The Vol walk is one of the best Tennessee traditions of all time. The players and coaches arrive at a designated spot and get off the bus to a rowdy and screaming crowd of around 50000 people. They then proceed to get in a single file line and walk from the spot to Neyland Stadium while the crowd yells and cheers them on. The Vol walk gets everybody fired up and ready for the game

Clemson started this after Dabo become HC. Their fans are raving about it . . . UT's is much stronger.

my favorite part about last week's walk was when the bus started rocking.

the DAWGS have a dawg walk. They walk under some type of bridge or overpass, with the band on each side, and such. They claim its better than the Vol Walk, and UT claims the Vol walk is better than the DAWG walk.

I vote for the Vol walk, obviously.

Thanks for posting the videos.. I'm hoping we can be that excited for our new tradition. We will have probably 40k fans excited to do this tomorrow; which is a lot for us. Considering we are the lowest populated state :) I'm sure it still won't compare to the atmosphere at Neyland. Wyoming is so spread out fans have to drive at least 3 or more hours to attend games and also deal with the weather and road conditions on their commute.

Snow is even in the forecast for the game tomorrow. I doubt Texas has ever played in this kind of weather at this Altitude (7220). They better keep the oxygen handy on the sideline. Also 20-40mph winds coming of the Snowy Range mountains could be hell for Colt McCoy and his passing game :)
