Folks, it's FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!

As some of you know already, there are some plans in place to ring in the new season with our fellow VolNation brethren (and, whatever you call the female of that).

Friday night, 7 PM: Rendezvous at the Downtown Grill and Brewery on Gay Street (no grade school cootie jokes, you clowns). It's just up from the Tennessee Theater and parking is usually aplenty in the garage just behind, which has its own poorly-marked backdoor entrance to the DTGB. We'll meet upstairs.

Saturday, whenever: Freak and BigDaddy are separately, but together (in some weird Zen-like sort of way) planning on establishing tailgate-central near the Rock at Frat park. Pretty nice central location that requires them to wake up long before you stumble to the coffee pot in order to claim stakes to a prized spot. So gather, ye all, and thank them for taking one for the team. Details will come later this week.

All right. That's all I've got. The flag goes up Saturday morning to start the one-week countdown. Anybody smell whiskey? Anybody hear Rocky Top? Anyone ready to send the Golden Bears home bruised-up and beat-down? LET'S GET FIRED UP!!!!

Today my daughter's pre-K class is supposed to wear orange. This week it has been about colors so they dress in the color of the day. Needless to say, it's obvious what she will be decked out in.

WOOOO! I am ready for some football!

I hope to attend my first game at Neyland this year... (After being born in TN and living there for 13 years, and being in the South all my life.... )

And you've never been to a UT game? Why did your parents treat you so badly?:jpshakehead:

I'm ready, flag has been up for a few weeks now and I'm picking up a new pristine bottle of Jack this week to replace my carryover bottle (one of many...) from last season.

Make a list of VN names with person's first name.

I won't be there, but here's an example:

VolinArizona - Doug

Well, I'm coming whether you want me or not! I'll be in frat park the day of the game anyway and I'll definitely stop by friday night. I don't think it gets better than this week. I'm wearing my orange shirt all week. If you don't see me then look for me in X3 row 29. I'm the only person below 40 in that section I think.

utvolpj- Patrick

And you've never been to a UT game? Why did your parents treat you so badly?:jpshakehead:

Taking my son (8) to his first game. Have to drive up from Orlando but its worth it. Will combine game with visiting family. Nothing better.

Unfortunately it won't be until the AF game. I'll keep an eye out for tailgaiting on AF Saturday. You all have fun.

You mean like name tags ?

No no.

There is not a great way to introduce yourselves in this kind of thing. It would be awkward to say "I'm jaybird 1981, who are you? OH HI ALLVOL SEVEN FIVE FOUR TWO NINE!!"

Basically, you'd introduce yourself, and then if someone doesn't remember who you are, they just ask what your VN name is.

Me and PJ will be representing the West Side. I'll be the guy taking everyone's money on the pool table.

Just kidding. KD = "Dr." Rob (as known by my patients)

I will be at the grill. Bald guy, bad attitude. Worst pool player you have ever seen. Losing my money to above poster. They call me Brad.

Bump.

And, I'll be the guy getting a drink bought for me by the above poster after each pool game.

Well, I'm smart enough to know better than to wager on my pool game. I was really planning on winning my beer playing golf (then again, you are a Dr.)

I don't know... Been scarred for years...

But it is all going to be made right. I am going to my first game at Neyland on the 23rd for the Marshall game. Who else is going?
