The USCjr win somehow removed all legitimate expectations from our fanbase and replaced them with the thought that we have suddenly arrived.

Going into the season, a bowl game was considered the consensus goal for the season. That is VERY much still in play, just as many of us predicted, with a half-decent Vandy team and abysmal Kentucky team as must wins.

On paper, this is the best recruiting class in a decade or more for the Vols.

The team has improved week over week, something that hasn't happened on the hill since the last time we won the SEC East.

Dobbs looks like he could be a legitimate QB for the years to come, assuming our WRs learn to catch and our OLine stops picking their nose before, during, and after the snap.

If Tennessee Football had a publicly traded stock, it'd still be 10-20x the value it was at the beginning of the season. Don't overreact to this small step back - we've taken 10 leaps forward.

This team has not improved. If we were competetive in the Bama and Missouri games, i would agree. I think this team has a mental block on the road for some reason.

I will be happy with a KY and Vandy win so we can get the extra bowl practice. An Auburn win would be a bonus. GBO!!!

The offense has improved, Palardy has improved immensely, but the defense has only improved slightly. For the most part they are still getting gashed and look incredibly slow and unable to tackle well.

The Bama game cannot be counted. There are very few teams in the country that would play competitive with them right now. A team with a rookie QB, a lot of underclassmen and a brand new coaching staff is not going to be competitive with Alabama.

The Mizzou game on the other hand is a little bit of a head scratcher. I was not expecting a win, but I did expect a little bit more from our team.

This is the best our whole special teams has looked in several years.......

I also believe that had Bray returned this season, we would beaten Florida & UGA.

There are some real babies on the board that need to get a grip. I would like to think most are under 15 but I know better. Auburn will be a very tough win and vandy won't be much easier. The team is in another year of transition with new coaches along with lower level recruiting than we are used to. That is changing and several freshman are already helping. BTW, next year will not be much better because Butch's first full recruiting class will be freshman.

Think about the offseason. It will be long and we'll miss our games. Yes some weeks suck, but what would life be like?

Agree completely. The defense is like the xfinity turtles, fast is a bad word. What the fast!

Fortunately, Butch & Co have a great JUCO class coming in too.

Lavon Pearson is an instant starter at WR, I'd put him in the same league as Marquez North

Dontavius Blair would arguably start on this year's OL.

Chris Weatherd is a solid OLB - would probably start this year.

DaVonte Lambert is a starter at DE

We also have some stud Freshmen who will likely start on Day one:

Jalen Hurd - RB
Todd Kelly - DB
Dillon Bates - LB
Daniel Helm - TE
Dewayne Hendrix - DE

Auburn is the real deal, but Vanderbilt is nowhere near as good as they are.

The defenses problem I think is that we don't have enough speed to compete with the better SEC teams, but i also think this is something that's beginning to be corrected with recruiting.

On paper, yes. We'll know more when they hit the field.

I don't see the improvement that you see. Could be just me, though. Mizz game was a definite implosion.

Dobbs looks like he could be a legitimate QB for the years to come, assuming our WRs learn to catch and our OLine stops picking their nose before, during, and after the snap.

The receivers dropped some great passes. Dobbs blew a lot of passes and zeroed in on his intended receiver when 2-3 others were open. But, it was his first start.

If Tennessee Football had a publicly traded stock, it'd still be 10-20x the value it was at the beginning of the season. Don't overreact to this small step back - we've taken 10 leaps forward.

I don't see the stock moving up just yet.

That's what happens with a new system, youth at several key positions, and no depth. These problems won't be fixed overnight, but I expect this to improve dramatically next year.

I think part of it is still a hangover from dooley's damage too
