Wow! Vols are ranked #4 in ESPN FPI power rankings.
Vols ahead of dogs!
That is a surprise!

Texas with the highest win out percentage at 23... I don't really see it.. Their schedule is pretty hard

Heh, Notre Dame at #7.

I'm seriously beginning to consider the possibility that someone in South Bend is paying out serious bucks to folks, like the statisticians at ESPN, to "keep them in the national conversation."

There is no other rational way they remain that high in any computerized FPI system after losing to NIU.

Go Vols!

It's a joke like a lot of others. And a media rude.

Here is who they have left:
ULM
MSU
OU
UGA
Vandy
UF
Arky
UK
TAMU

Don’t see how that’s a pretty hard schedule. There is one tough team (UGA), one decent team (OU), one below average team (TAMU) and 6 scrubs.

Quant models are very iffy this time of year. You really need at least 5-6 games worth of data and most of them are still using some data from last year. They all suffer from similar problems. Sagarin still has Florida State at #27 (though their "Strong Recent" model has them at #67 --- the problem with model, however, is that it overweights cupcake games for a lot of teams).

Also, tbf to Notre Dame, they looked very good in Games 1 and 3. Not so much in Game 2.

Uga @ Texas?? Forget about it. Unlike UK, Texas can score. and defend. And Sark is mucho above Kirby & Bobo. Texas by 10.

I am soooo nervous this week. Saturday night will tell if we really are as good as advertised or if we are indeed overrated. Most important game in years IMHO. We are on the cusp of getting (and keeping) real national respect. Let’s go out there and earn it

I have been confident up to this point, but strangely, in the wake of a 71-point win, that confidence is eroding. Our pass blocking worries me. The left guard spot is questionable, just like many of us expected. Really hope Lance Heard gets and stays healthy so that the left tackle spot doesn’t become shaky as well. Nico is untested, as is our secondary. Logic tells me we win Saturday, and that it may not be close. There’s still a lot of uncertainty though.

Vols always play best when they think they are underdogs IMO

We've heard this story before though. Georgia always has one road game that they struggle to win. Everyone thinks they are beatable, then they start bullying people on both sides of the LOS. Texas does look like the better team right now though.

I didn't say it was... I'm just saying a team like Notre Dame has an easier schedule left and they're behind em
