Vols #8 in Coaches poll

This is a little better now that I know we moved up one spot. How does USC lose to an unranked team and are ranked just one spot under us ? I digress !

If we take care of LSU we could easily be top 5 next week with WV and UofL playing each other.

That poll is a joke.....I would just like to know how Texas managed to move UP after barely Texas Tech....That's insane

I don't think it matters...since we have two very tough games coming up...as well as the status of Ainge's injury not being certain yet.

Only thing I see wrong is Cal. should have flip-flopped the Domers so Weiss could whine somemore.:)

Probably the same way TN moved up after barely beating USC....

not a good point you're trying to make there, RBC. Can you honestly compare Texas Tech with a battle hardened SEC team? Not to mention, this is the 2nd consecutive week Texas has had to scramble for its very life to snatch victory from a presumably far inferior opponent.

Thank you All Vol! Who has Texas beat that's better than anyone we've beat with the exception of Marshal and Memphis? The only decent win Texas has IMO is Nebraska...And they snuck out of there with that one

If you've read some of my other posts, I'm always the first to point out the difficulty of playing in the SEC. As a matter of fact, the SEC champ should be the first one-loss team considered for the MNC -if it comes down to a one-loss team.

Hypothetically, if the polls were done from scratch each week, a definite case could be made for a one-loss TN team being ahead of a one-loss TX team. I might even make that case myself. However, as it is, TX is ranked higher and won two close games. TN is ranked lower and won two close games. Tech and NU are at least good enough to keep a team where it is close loss or not.

I think the built-in advantage (fair or not) is that we're returning NCs and Tn is returning from a 5-6 season. TN is still regaining its rep from last year. By the end of this season when TN is 12-1, they'll get the benefit in future polls just like TX does at the moment.

Very fair assessment.
