Vols abysmal 66.2% Free Throw (bottom 25%)

Hit free throws and not giving cheap fouls letting teams live at the free throw line. Do those two things and they would definitely be better.

Good free throw shooting teams win championships... this will have to improve if this team wants to have any chance in the tournaments... go vols

this is simple practice, routine and concentration.
concentration being a big part of it.
I can't believe these guys are not being made to make 100 ft's a day before leaving practice.
I did this with my teams in high school made them make 50 and have to hit 10 in a row and we improved dramatically... small things help Bruce

Id like to see a free throw competition between the Lady Vols and the Mens team. After they get embarrassed, it might motovate them to practice making free throws both in practice and in the game.

I'd like to see the Lady Vols vs our other team in ANY sort of skills competition. OMG that would be hilarious. That's not even fair, the Lady Vols are lightyears beyond anything our other basketball team could dream of. The Lady Vols have real basketball players that are skilled in, and use, all the fundamentals of the game. Watch a LV game, they pass well, shoot well, box out, play D, and make wise decisions. Basically, the Lady Vols do all the things I wish our other basketball team could.

Yeah I agree. I watched a bit of the LV game last night. They moved the ball well, hit FTs, hit mid-range jump shots well. Summit has complete control of her team. I mean she kicks players out of practice for not giving enough effort...That's disipline right there.

A fan on the BP show asked once if they practice FT's in practice @ all. He grinned ear to ear and responded thats up to the players to put in the time after practice in the gym on their own........Wouldn't of hurt so much if he didn't say it with the orgasmic grin on his face.:p

Do you want a kit-kat? Please explain. You ridicule my post with your rhetoric, but you make no attempt to refute my claims. Surely if you disagree you will offer some insight pertaining to why.

I could write several pages of things to refute your claims. Instead, I'll keep it relatively short:

1) The Lady Vols run little to no half-court offense and haven't for years.
2) They cherry pick the very best players in the country year in and year out; yet, UCONN is head and shoulders better than them.
3) they have to have a player that is considered as one of the best to ever play women's bball to win a Championship (see Holdsclaw and Parker)
4) they have more talent than anyone else in the SEC by leaps and bounds.

Summit's record speaks for itself; however, I definitely do not think that she runs an impressive offense or is very good at all at x's and o's. I just think she has better players than everyone else.

Excellent post and I agree. Also, I take from the points you make that you agree with my original claim. I claim that in any fundamental basketball skills competition, the Lady Vols will outperform the UT men. Your points seem to support my claim. Is this correct?

None of your points are valid.

Coach Lohr? FRA in Nashville? :ermm: Anyways our coach also made us shoot the same shots you just mentioned. It's ridiculous they can't make more free throws. It's so simple to learn to do. Once you learn the arc and the wrist action you can make them blindfolded at least 5 out of 10 tries. I didn't play ball for a while now and guarantee I can still do this with only 25 warm up shots.

The thing that is more ridiculous are the NBA players who are shooting under 50%. The free throw line hasn't changed since they played in middle school.

No, out-talenting other teams doesn't necessarily mean they are great at fundamentals.

They defend and rebound. Other than that, they're just jump ball machines like the rest of womens ball.

I know somebody is itching to tell me that they could beat me, but that's patently stupid, so don't.
