I didn't expect to climb any this week, however, blue blood Kansas only drops one after losing two out of the last three with one of those being to a very bad WVU team. Also, interesting that ESPN has us favored in every game moving forward except for our game @ Alabama. If that were to happen, I'm guessing we would be a lock for a #1 seed in the big dance. Go Vols!

I get that the movement is mostly because other teams lost, but Duke at #7 is ridiculous right now. They lost to Pitt at home a couple games ago, then they triumphed over Louisville (lol) and beat Clemson by 1 at home (a game they probably should've lost). Absolutely nothing about their resume says they should be top ten, let alone #7. Their best win by far is Baylor.

how in the world does SCJr not get ranked? they're #26 in the AP but still -- their only losses are Clemson, Bama and UGA -- and they just beat KY...?!?!? I assume SOS plays into it, but still surprising...
and they are feeding off of the snub. We better be ready for a battle tomorrow evening @ the Summitt. Go Vols!

Duke and Kansas are the Notre Dame and Ohio State of basketball. Ranked where they are simply because of their name. I guess we should add Alabama football to that list as well

Oh for sure. I hated it when Coach K was still there, but the fact that they're getting the same treatment with an unproven Jon Scheyer is crazy.

If we take both games this week, I expect we'll crack the top 3 next Monday.

How about the Badgers? Nice win on our resume.....
We all knew it was good for the resume even when Wisconsin wasn't ranked—it's tough to win in Madison, period. But I don't think I expected Wisconsin to crack the top 10. A 10-point true road win against a top 10 team is super impressive. Depending on how things shake out in the Big 10, it could end up being one of the more notable wins on any resume.

Do we root for Purdue because they beat us, or do we root for Wisconsin because we beat them? :)

Name recognition. It takes a lot of time for it to dissipate.

Just means it'll be even sweeter in the dance when they are given a higher seed than they deserve and get knocked off by a lower seeded team

Very surprised we are favored at Rupp. Figured Ky would be 3-5 pt favs.
Yeah, I’m surprised, too. I don’t see us getting the win @ Rupp. And I won’t be upset as long as we play well. Ky will be up for this game and the fans will be amped up, too. Take care of USCjr and I’ll be happy with the split this week.

I'd like to be there as I live 4 miles from Rupp. Just not gonna pay the ridiculous prices and fees on top of that. Oh yeah, parking is $27 at Rupp as well.

If you look at KenPom, you can almost predict what the lines will be on your own. Home court is weighted a little different for each venue I believe (I don’t think each team is given a fixed amount of points for the home court advantage) but on a neutral court, KP lines would put us somewhere around a 5 point favorite. I think this one might be close to a pick ‘em or the Vols favored by 1-1.5

I think it’s one of those ESPN predictive model things. I’d say Vegas will have KY favored around 2.5 or 3.

I think it’ll be right around Tennessee -1.5, of course that’s as of today and could shift a lot based off both teams midweek games.
I think the outcome of tonight’s game with Carolina and Kentucky’s game with Florida tomorrow will have an impact on the line for the game at Rupp. If Tennessee goes in there and pulls out a win with a 8:30 tip time on national TV, ESPN in the house, then I’d say might be Barnes biggest road win ever during his tenure at UT. The stakes could not be any higher for Kentucky, a chance for them to knock off a top 5 team in their house. The building will be electric and that crowd will be juiced up with liquor and Red Bull. Should be a fun and unique experience for our players and a great opportunity to send a message that UT has the physical and mental toughness to hold up in an hostile environment. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the officials will probably have a huge impact on this game. If they lean to the homers, which they normally do, then we may be in for a challenge that is unattainable.

Bama wins at home. They are a different team there, and the crowd will be Rabid; especially since it's Tennessee. Big homecourt advantage

I did not realize this team could have an off night like that with DK scoring, now I know. You really can't predict what team will show up.

As tough as yesterday was to watch, I’ve convinced myself games like that just happen sometimes. I think the early missed layups from Aidoo and a couple of others caused a ripple effect, and everyone got nervous/timid. We can’t really afford to have Aidoo, Ziegler, Gainey, and James be complete no shows on the offensive end. Way too much pressure on Knecht. It’s great we have a player who we can rely on to score when we need it, but we’re gonna need those I’ve mentioned above to produce at a reasonably high level if we want to win in the tourney.

My expectations are that we will struggle to win road games against the “upper half” conference foes. Might drop another game at home unless the current offensive trend changes. I think we’ll end up 4th or 5th in the conference standings. Probably a 5/6 seed in the NCAA tourney (the # of losses is growing). Maybe we make a deep run after none of us expect it.
