Here's a post from another VOLS Board. This is the actual text of the post. The poster allegedly received a call from an unidentified VOLS players' dad. The VOLS dad is a friend of the poster.

Title:

Rumors, so please do not read; I am not the NY Times!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I treat this board like an old fashioned phone with 8 other parties on the line like mom and dad had as tenant farmers in 1945 in Batesville, Miss(that's Panola County!). Thus, I do not require two or more folks to verify same.

I heard so much stuff this week end, most all of it discouraging, that I only posted the positive, as perceived by some of UT's National Alumni Association leaders, re: AD Mike Hamilton's decision NOT to give a large salary increase to CPF's asst coaches last year.

A father of a UT player just called and said: "Have you heard?" I said about Memphis and Tommy West pr problems with DeAngelo?? He said no. I said "About Bush falling further in the polls?" He said "Hell no, get serious, this is about UT!"

He said "The rumor going around all around the team in the locker room getting ready for this afternoon's practice is that Slade and Stephens are definitely resigning after the season." I said, shocked, amazed, "Are you s_____g me!"

He said further that yesterday on the practice field Eric Ainge was talking to a group of the players and said "If Coach Cutcliffe is the offensive coordinator, then I will stay, but if he isn't, I'm probably out of here."

Editorial comment-I guess he had heard that Cutcliffe coached both Peyton and Eli and since he and Peyton are close, Peyton must have had positive things to say to him about Coach Cutcliffe!!

Please, these are unsubstantiated rumors but from a father so I have no reason to doubt these statements NOW-but, as in recruiting, a prospect can change his mind so I wouldn't be running down to Tunica to place a bet on either!!

sounds good to me slade and stephens should leave. i also would like ainge to exit to. i would like somebody other than Cut but i don't think that will happen. i personally think ainge needs a change of scenery. washington also needs to go. gives me alittle reason to be optomistic.

Washington should have been the FIRST to go.

These rumors have been floating around for a while now. I think that part of it is true. Slade and JRS are gone. Probably a couple more before we know it.

As for Ainge "hearing about Cut with Peyton and Eli", who doesn't know that.

If cromwell is the starting QB as a freshman, I cannot remember UT having a lot of success with a freshman QB. Don't get me wrong I think he will be able to put up better numbers then Ainge, I just dont think we can expect a championship type team. I think Fulmer is in a very tough spot, I think he is realistically 2 years away from having a championship type team.

1) we know there are changes- slade and stevens has been talked about already.

2) Cutcliff is nothing we already do not know

What would be surprising if he actually hired somebody not associated with UT athletics now this would be a really interesting post.

Slade was on the Animal afew weeks ago and said he wasn't going anywhere! Now there may have been a purpose for his statement but he did say it!

I've read fulmer quoted in the tennessean saying he wasnt expecting any more coaching changes (after sanders resigned) but wouldn't rule it out.

I noticed in the KNS that Kansas State Football coach Bill Snyder is retiring this year at age 66. I am wondering if Cutcliff will be a prospect for that opening. They are a big time program.

I think he's going with the "if there's no ring on the finger I can play the field" line of thinking.

Good graciou Brg72...that's exactly what I was thinking. Nothing in that whole post is anything except what I expected. Furthermore, I would bench or kick-off the team ANY player making a comment like EA just did...if real(and it does fit..seems UT is more democratic than the libertarian national convention).
PLEEEEEEZE somebody break the news that we have a newbie with fire coming.....never going to happen

Unfortunately. I am here to stay. :blush2:
