Check out the graph below. What it shows is the Vols projected 2 deep (in my opinion) over the next few years based on some speculation that I do not believe is too far fetched.
The first keys to championships are having big men and experienced PGs. That's why the PG spot on the graph below should stand out in 2012 and 2013. The assumption is that neither Jones nor Golden leave early.
Other keys are Kenny Hall turning into a quality big and the Vols landing a 2011 big to go with him. Assumptions in the chart are that neither Maymon nor Hall will be going pro early and that Caldwell, Parker, Adams, Poythress, and Shannon Hale will all wear Orange.
One other thing -- Hale could be the greatest player to ever come out of the State of TN. He also could very well be a 6'11 or 7'0 PF akin to David Robinson when he was with the Spurs, except with a better handle and better jump shot. The kid is 6'8 as a rising Sophomore and has incredibly developed skills for a kid that just finished his freshman year in HS.
If Parker is not a one and done (which may be highly unlikely), having Parker, Hale, Adams, Jones, and Poythress on the same team in 2013 could be kind of like the UNC team from two years ago, except better. Of course, that assumes Poythress and Adams (like parker) are also not one and done players and that Jones does not leave before his Junior year. This is not an issue that the Vols have had to address, but expect Hopson to be the first in a long line of guys over the next 5 years that leave for the NBA with college eligibility still left over.
