ESPN2 has agreed to televise the Tennessee-Oklahoma State basketball game from Nashville on December 18. No time was announced for the tip-off from the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

Previously, games with Middle Tennessee State and East Tennessee State in Knoxville at Thompson-Boling Arena had been finalized. The Vols will meet the Blue Raiders on November 10 and the Bucs on December 30.

The Vols will also play Fordham on November 13 in the preseason NIT from Nashville and the Gaylord Entertainment Center. Should the Vols defeat Fordham, they would play the winner of the Belmont-UNCWilmington contest the next night for a chance to advance to New York for the preseason NIT Final Four.

Although the complete 2006-07 Tennessee basketball schedule has yet to be announced, other contests on the schedule for Bruce Pearl's Vols will include home games against Memphis, Texas and a full-slate of SEC home games including Alabama, LSU, Kentucky and defending national champion Florida. A road trip to Ohio State is also expected.

Television's role in making matchups is pushing the scheduling process further and further back every year.

It is like what I tell business associates that pay for the golf (when they want a mulligan or two): you paid, you make the rules

The opener with Fordham is going to be far tougher than most expect. I saw them absolutely hammer Temple in Philadelphia at the end of the regular season. Bryant Dunston is a big time player.

that should be one of our tough out of conf. games with the other osu being a huge test.

I know that Coach Pearl didn't like the TV package last year. Maybe he is slowly getting it changed to include more national telecasts. That's one of the great things about college basketball - you can schedule some tough games to hopefully land those national telecasts, and know that even if you lose, a couple of losses won't kill ya.

I've read that the game against "The Ohio St. University" is a CBS game. ESPN should show us a little more this year in their SEC game of the week. Also, you would think that the games against Texas and Memphis will be national games, wouldn't ya?

Yeah, the "other osu" game should be a tough test. I think we are playin' them in January, and Oden will probably be back from his wrist surgery by then. And if you listen to Dick Vitale, Greg Oden is the 2nd coming of Patrick Ewing, and will be the best big man in the nation as soon as he steps on the floor.
