Tennessee managed just five hits and Kentucky's big-swinging offense hit four dingers to take the opening game of the rivalry series by a 15-1 margin at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Thursday night.

Everyone both inside and outside the program said this was a big series for the vols.

They promptly, in very UT fashion, got blown out and no showed in game one of the series. This was a disaster and it was nationally televised.

Need to take the last 2 but the damage may already be done.

Today is a new day. Forget about last night. Play your hearts out, play smart, play together as a team & most of all have fun. The results will be positive. #FearKnoxville #BeatUK #Believe #OneTennessee

I'm going to tell you now, Kentucky will hang around 10 every game in this series.

Tennessee needs to score.

Don't look at the score and be upset at the effort of the team.

The Kentucky lineup is that good

I get people are frustrated and yes yesterday was pathetic, but the SEC is loaded. Almost every SEC series we're playing a Top 25 team. That's brutal for a young team trying to grow. I wish people would stop looking at the W/Ls only.

This is why I'm interested to see how our fanbase is after this next football season. There's a decent chance we go 5-7 again.

I know that this is a baseball forum, but UT MUST make a bowl this year to keep the recruiting momentum alive. CBJ has been selling kids on UT's improvement, and the rubber needs to meet the road this season. I'd be fine with 6-6, as that would be improvement.

P.S. I'm behind CBJ 100%, but if we go 5-7 this season, I'll admit that he's going to be losing a lot of my confidence.

Today is a new day! Math wise, we need/ed to win two games versus UK, so in the grand scheme last night doesn't mean much. The message, CDS sent to the team when he brought in Grotz is, "we're going to fight another day." Hunter Martin's performance afforded us that luxury.

The goal of Hoover is still there for this team, though they need to step up and do their part. It's still reasonable, mostly, due to the fact that Mizzou and UGA face Vandy and SC. Both of those teams are still fighting for host seeding, so they are still plenty motivated, which is good for us.

Not making Hoover in year three would be a major disappointment.

Better watch it.. the cheer police will come get you.

There's nothing wrong with criticism, but when you constantly only show up after a loss to talk about how much we suck, then you're rightly going to be called out.
