All four of Joe Milton’s wideouts (Bru McCoy, Ramel Keyton, Squirrel White and Dont’e Thornton) were out there running around. Jacob Warren returned to practice. Wesley Walker, Tamarion McDonald, Omarr Norman-Lott and Dylan Sampson stretched off to the side in a group with a trainer. Sampson went out and did some individual while the rest stayed inside while the media was present. Emmanuel Okoye was not dressed out today. Andrej Karic was also seen during the first few periods of practice after being banged up some last week.
Conversations that followed the first scrimmage have noted that Addison Nichols probably had his best day of camp that day. He, of course, got work snapping the football – but he also got some work with the first and second groups at the left guard position.
Ollie Lane was working at center with the first group on Saturday morning as he’s in-line to play for Mays while he’s sidelined. Lane, of course, is a guard as well. One other big note from Saturday morning, Gerald Mincey was seen working with the ones at right tackle when the offense went into a team period while the media was walking off the field.
I know I write this all the time, but it stands true for the small amount of time we are out there: Joe looked good. His throws down the field were on the money (one to Jacob Warren down the left hash and one to Squirrel White down the middle of the field) and his touch allowed those guys to run under the ball. He only overthrew one ball that we saw and that was one the receiver honestly could have stretched out for and possibly made a play.
Nico Iamaleava had a couple of nice throws on the day. McCallan Castles dropped one of his out routes though.
Andre Turrentine continues to get a lot of looks at the safety position while McDonald and Walker remain limited in practice. We don’t believe he’s jumped out and seized a starting job by any means, but we have been told he’s had a solid camp so far and should expect to be in the rotation.
Arion Carter made some plays in the scrimmage the other day and has certainly put himself in the rotation this fall, but both he and Jermeiah Telander are continuously harped on to do the little things right and create good, lasting habits. That’s normal and they are well on their way.

Texas transfer offensive lineman Andrej Karic and freshman defensive lineman Trevor Duncan have been banged-up some during camp, but both were out there and appeared to be going through drills.
Veteran tackle Dayne Davis worked at center Gerald Mincey was with the right tackles
Ollie Lane was first up at center and it looked like Andrej Karic was working first at left guard – Lane got snaps between Karic and Javontez Spraggins in some combo-blocking work. Crawford worked ahead of Mincey at right tackle, and John Campbell Jr. was first up at left tackle as he appears to have that starting job locked up.
Warren Burrell worked with the cornerbacks for both periods, but obviously he continues to work at Star with McDonald and Walker limited.
Tennessee looked to be right at full-strength at wide receiver with Bru McCoy, Squirrel White, Donte Thornton Jr. and Nathan Leacock all running routes normally. Ramel Keyton was dressed out, but looked to be a little limited as we didn’t see him involved much in routes-on-air. Overall the period left something to be desired with some missed throws (more from Nico Iamaleava than Joe Milton III) and the occasional drop (McCoy and Nimrod had a couple.)
Milton went over after one of his rounds of throws to talk with Thornton through their route – those two have developed a good connection since the former Oregon Duck joined the program.
Tennessee did air it out some during these two periods and it looked like Kaleb Webb, running first at one of the outside positions, short-armed a pretty accurate throw from Milton and Iamaleava led Leacock just a yard too far.

All three of Bru McCoy, Squirrel White and Dont’e Thornton were fully dressed out and going through routes on air. The only additional injury notes is that Dylan Sampson stayed inside the Anderson Training Center when the team went outside. However, Sampson was only briefly inside before joining his teammates outside for drill work. Freshman running back DeSean Bishop was absent from the open portion of practice.
Let’s start along the offensive line where Ollie Lane continues to receive the most center reps while Mays is sidelined. Parker Ball and Vysen Lang received the most center reps I saw behind Lane as the Vols attempt to build depth there. Veteran offensive tackle Dayne Davis was practicing snapping but that was off to the side and not part of the drills Tennessee’s offensive line was participating in.
There was an emphasis on deep balls during the routes on air portion of practice. Joe Milton III and Nico Iamaleava were both good but not great during the portion while the quarterbacks behind them struggled with accuracy.
Chas Nimrod struggled with drops while the media was present. Nimrod and Kaleb Webb are competing for the Vols’ fifth receiver spot and a bigger role in the rotation if injuries happen this season.
Defensive backs Tamarion McDonald and Wesley Walker as well as defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott were fully dressed out but stayed inside to work when the rest of the team went outside to the Haslam Practice Field.
One linebacker that continues to impress me more-and-more as fall camp rolls on is freshman linebacker Jeremiah Telander. The inside backer is big for a freshman and moves well for his size. He was repping with fellow freshman Arion Carter for the first time during the open portions of fall camp.
Doneiko Slaughter, Kamal Hadden and Gabe Jeudy-Lally continue to be the most impressive looking Tennessee cornerbacks to me.

DeSean Bishop was absent. I've been told he was hurt in the scrimmage on Thursday and may miss some time this year.
Cooper Mays is still absent.
Dylan Sampson, Tamarion McDonald, Wesley Walker and Braeden Krivosh were participants but missed some time with their position groups to get extra attention in stretching.
Bru McCoy's jersey has switched to McCoy III.
Ollie Lane and Parker Ball were the only two players we saw snap the ball in the media portion.

Cain said Mincey working with the ones at RT.

Patrick Brown says Crawford ahead od Mincey at RT.

Who’s lying?
Cain said he was with the 1s in the team periods as they were walking off the field. Patrick was most likely referring to the periods they saw while they were all still there. When it is all said and done, I expect Mincey to get the first crack at RT.

sucks about Bishop. Honestly, he could really use a redshirt year. They put a LOT of miles on him at Karns. Hopefully he is able to get in some mop up games and get some in game experience, but would love to see him redshirt.
I completely expect him to redshirt this year. We've got plenty of depth at that position, easily one of the deepest in the entire nation with potentially 6 quality backs. I expect Keith will also redshirt.

Yeah, I hope the Bishop injury is not too bad. He looked great in the Orange and White game and he seems to be a perfect fit for Heupel's offense,

The more I see stuff like this:

Doneiko Slaughter, Kamal Hadden and Gabe Jeudy-Lally continue to be the most impressive looking Tennessee cornerbacks to me.

The more I hope our lineup looks like this:

CB: Jeudy-Lally
CB: Hadden
NB: Slaughter
S: McDonald
S: Walker

I think that lineup could shut some folks down…especially considering how much help I think they will get up front
