Congratulations to both the men's doubles tennis team as well as the Lady Vol's double's tennis teams....both are playing for the National Championship tomorrow in Athen's, Ga. The Vols beat North Carolina in the semi's and the Ladies beat Georgia today in the semi's. Bring home the hardware guys and gals!

The men lost in the championship to Virginia and the ladies lost to Stanford. Both went 3 sets and was extremely competitive. Has to be disappointing to both teams....but it was fantastic to make it to the championship. Well done tennis vols.

The University of Tennessee: Been coming up short since 1999.

True. This year we played for the national championship as a team and as men's and women's doubles teams....all losing in the finals. That has to be incredibly frustrating for the team and coaches. But wow, to be in the position is amazing. Next year the Vols will have the experience as a team...having played for a championship. The core of the team will be back with our 2 freshman seasoned. And we have a top recruit coming in. So things look bright for the tennis Vols in the future.

Why have we NOBODY who can get over the top? Good grief. Three title matches in tennis and we lose all three. The women's softball team totally chocked away a title three years ago--outs away from winning with the best pitcher in the game...and they find a way to lose. We should be called the UT Bridesmaids instead of the Vols.

2009 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

Also, the men won the outdoor track and field championship in 2001. And did you forget about the titles the ladies basketball team won in 2007 and 2008?

If you're going to whine, then get your facts straight or just admit that you're fans of the football team, basketball teams, and little else.

We are a fanbase that wants at least something to celebrate. Our rivals are busy winning titles and taking turns being ranked #1 in basketball and football, while our baseball team has almost no chance for success with Sweeney Todd at the helm. Those are the most visible sports UT plays. It is difficult, especially for the more distant fans, to follow the smaller sports. I am 100% sure that most of them want those sports to win though.

Tennis is something that a lot of fans have a good chance to follow. UT had a very good team and had very good individual players that may win a title in the future, but they haven't yet. It is disappointing to watch our teams lose. The team that gave us the most hope for a title was just denied twice in a week. The ladies getting to the title game was great, but that was another letdown after the loss. I want all of our teams to do well and I love when they do, so I can't be too upset about losing in the title matches, but it gets very disappointing when we seemingly can't win just one.

It is also very interesting to point out that none of those titles you mentioned occurred under the watch of Mike Hamilton.

Could be worse. We could be 2006-2007 Ohio state.

The outdoor track championship was legit--but indoor titles generally are not in track or tennis. The outdoor titles are the real championships. Track, though, sort of reinforces my point. We've had a lot of strong track teams--and SO many times Arkansas has been better.
