Tennessee appears on the verge of snapping a prolonged stretch of declining ticket sales in its football program, already establishing a new high in the five-year history of the Tennessee Terrace area and improving in other premium seating areas, according to data obtained by VolQuest.com/Rivals.com through a Freedom of Information Act request.

With the Vols' season-opening contest against Utah State 39 days from now on Sunday, Aug. 31, in a game that will be broadcast on the all-new SEC Network, UT already reports season-ticket sales of approximately 59,000 --- some 1,500 more than final numbers for the 2013 season.

"We had kind of been in decline since 2005, but I think we've turned the corner on that. It's a really good feeling, and we'll end up over 60,000," said Chris Fuller, UT's veteran senior associate athletics director for development and external operations.

This is very good news.. everyone around the country is feeling the effects of HDTV on ticket sales. And we are improving our numbers.

Just shows how UT fans truly are the best fans in the country.

Not many schools have something as special as Neyland Stadium... HDTV can not satiate the hunger a lot of UT fans have. Of course ALL would love to go but can't and in no way is this a shot at those who can't get to games....as long as they get a bigger tv or louder radio !

Could always go the WV route and start selling beer and wine at games! That might be good for another 20,000 season tickets (Note: I haven't been to a game in years and it is my understanding beer isn't sold). I always smuggled Jack Daniels in myself.

Yeah we don't need beer JD is just fine. Sometimes it's a little rough during the noon games. Alcohol is sometimes part of it but not necessary for the enjoyment of that particular atmosphere.

Edit: tickets will be coming very soon.

I'd say that if the AD had any business sense at all they'd graph the number of sales by year vs. the price per year then they might start understanding the root problem.
