Dear Friends,

I enjoy the great traditions of college football, especially those of the University of Tennessee. Saturday night while standing in the tunnel ready to lead the Vols onto the field of victory versus Cal, I was absolutely awe struck by all that we have.

I scanned the gigantic stadium full of orange and white clad fans and the Orange Nation with their pompoms moving in unison to show their support, the checkerboard endzones, the cheerleaders, the majorettes... Did I mention all the orange and white? Then there was the Pride of the Southland Band - the most powerful and absolutely dominating band in America, forming the T to lead us to battle. Wow! What a scene! It was incredible, the energy in that stadium as they supported and encouraged the Vols to victory. I believe it was the loudest I've ever heard Neyland Stadium.

Our young Volunteer team is excited about our start, but we certainly know there are great challenges and opportunities ahead. It is great to know that the Volunteer Nation and all our great traditions are behind us! I just wanted to let you know that we appreciate all you do to continue those traditions and especially for your loyal and enthusiastic support!

Go Vols!

Nothing will ever be louder than when Florida missed that field goal in '98...nothing.

Wilhoit's 50 yarder against Florida a few years back was the loudest I remember. The place went nuts!
Let's keep up the noise for the next 3 home games!

I agree, and it was pretty loud in my living room too when busted those uprights. On coach Fulmers letter, he may have had communications open with the fans before...but this is the 1st time I can remember him speaking directly to the fans, I like it. Im sure he seems distant to some, and that may have hurt his image in the past.

The Salute to the Hill is my third favorite gameday tradition.

My second is pregame... gotta LOVE "the most electric moment in sports." :dance2:

My number one favorite gameday tradition? WINNING. :):rock::rock:

Florida 04 was the wildest i have seen. i was in the student section and i was hugging people five rows before me like they were my long lost friends. i lost a shoe and my hat. as far as loudest,i'm going with Florida 98.

i was in near tears in the fourth quarter of the Arkansas game, and i left the stadium before the fumble. i didn't want to be there to see the loss. i couldn't take it. little did i know... i watched the end from somebodies tailgate...and again was hugging people i didn't know.

No doubt, I was sitting behind the kickers mom and I believe his sister that night. His mom was in tears. Yes we were sitting in the gators ticket section, thanks to Derrick Chambers of the gators, I worked with his mom. Anything to see the Vols in action. Did they ever recover both fied goal post? I believe one ended up in the river.

They cut up some of one. My brother has a piece of it on his keychain.
