The only team's ahead of them in Ken Pomeroy's season long statistical analysis are #1 Florida, #2 Arizona, #3 Louisville, and #4 Virginia. Michigan is #10. Remember his results are based on a statistical analysis of the entire season body of work, not coaches, sportswriters, or committees casting votes. The statisticians are putting the political pollsters and pundits and the human pickers to shame. You only have to look as far as Nate Silver who gave the President a better than 90% chance of being elected, picking 50 of 50 states, and almost nailing the electoral vote. IN A NUTSHELL, WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT TENNESSEE HAS AN EXCELLENT CHANCE OF BEATING MICHIGAN AND GOING BACK TO THE ELITE 8. :clapping:

What does Silver think about us?
Nate has us with a 47% probability of beating Michigan, a 17% probability of winning the Elite 8 regional championship game, a 7% probability of a Final Four win, and a 3% probability of a National Championship. Of course the later odds will go up with each victory! Like I said Silver and Pomeroy are pretty close in their analysis. A number 6 rating should roughly compare to an Elite 8 appearance. Doesn't mean it will, but they've been pretty accurate with Tennessee so far!

The 538 bracket is really cool. I think it is pretty much spot on and used it to make my picks. (I'm in the 99th percentile.) The bracket shows Louisville as the pretty heavy favorite to come out of our region and gives us a 3% chance of winning the whole thing: similar to UK, Michigan, Baylor, Iowa St, UConn, and UCLA, which is also pretty accurate I would think.

Yeah, I see us as a Top 15 team but not the 6th best. Beating Michigan would be a mild upset, IMO.

Seems like all computer rankings have this game much closer than the eye test would've told you a couple weeks ago.

KenPom has us winning by a point, Silver has us losing by a point, Vegas has us losing by a point. This could be a hell of a game.

Michigan is the best offensive team in the tournament but we are better defensively and should dominate the glass. We are going to have to shoot less or make more 3s then we have been though.

Shoot less and pound it inside please.

KenPom has become a favorite--even tough I'd never heard of him or his site until three days ago--but he's got kentucky at 11, which seems low for that crew. They beat a very good wichita state team yesterday. I give us a better chance of beating michigan than kentucky. Of course, if we win friday we will be playing the cats. That's going to be a good game with louisville.

I agree with this, which is odd seeing as how I rarely agree with anyone you say
