How do you JUST beat Nova... and they are still ahead of you in the polls?? somethings dont make sense.

And to go from 24 to 13 is a huge jump....I knew Nova wouldn't fall that far, they were 7th before the game

This is the good thing about college basketball. Rankings dont matter as much (until tourney seeds) as they do in football. I like that we are still at 13 or 12th. It can give Bruce a lot of things to keep the team motivated with imo.

I guess it makes sense for Villanova to fall only five spots in that they were ranked pretty high and didn't lose in an embarrassing manner to a ranked team, but it's odd to see us right behind a team we just beat.

Nevertheless, that's fantastic. A bigger jump than I expected.

We made a higher jump then ppl thought we would. I guess its bc the teams we played are a combined 18-5 with 4 of those losses coming from just CU. if you factor out all the loses from us lol.

At least we got some props from the AP. ESPN has us at #17 (as I thought they would) and kept both FL (who barely beat a mediocre FSU) and Ken-sucky (who got destroyed by UConn) ahead of us. I'm not one to jump on the 'ESPN hates UT' bandwagon, but here's more fuel for that fire...

ESPN is the coach's poll and they hate Bruce. Nova is around 12th there too.

Yes, coaches, unbeaten Tennessee totally deserves to be ranked behind a one-loss Florida team after beating the #7 team in the nation by double digits.

I admit I enjoy keeping up with the polls all season long, even in the beginning, and I feel like this is a slap in the face to us. It would even be a lot better if the discrepancies between positions in each poll were closer together than they are (like 13/13 or 13/14 instead of 13/17).

Is this directed more at the people who vote in the polls or the people like me who make observations about the polls?

Not you in particular, but people making observations. Too often people let their homerism or affinity for their own teams get in the way of logic.

True, but I still fail to see why a team like Florida is ahead of us. I understand they lost to a great team, and I understand there was a bit of distance between UF and UT in the last poll, but it still doesn't make much sense.

It really doesn't matter either way. I'm not upset, obviously, but this stuff makes you wonder.

Polls in every sport should only come out at the midpoint of the season. Pre-season polls up to midseason are complete garbage.
