Vols seeded # 7

We will OK if we don't have to play Missouri. We seem to have a little problem hitting against them. They amy have the best pitcher in the Nation.

Gotta lose to someone....can't win'em all. It's sad because I was thinking this group of girls was going to bring home the bacon this year with all the talent they have.

The reason Mizzou has bean beating this team is due to the rise ball for some reason for the last 3 or 4 seasons UT just can't hit the rise ball worth a flip. The seeding actually works for us as long as somebody knocks them off we should be fine.

Why Thomas is so effective is that she throws both the rise and the drop ball, and they both look the same coming out of her hand. So you end up having to guess whether the pitch is going up or down.

She frequently makes hitters look ridiculous, see Arkansas the other night.

Thomas's drop ball is ridiculously good..... I would move up in the box to get a chance at the drop before it falls off the table..... take that pitch away and force her to throw the fast ball by you... discipline at the plate with good pitch selection against elite pitchers is needed to be successful.

Looking for a "cheap" flight to Knoxville.... need to help Melissa move out of Vol Hall this week..... so I will take in the Regional....

Who else is going this weekend???

Actually, I saw the first inning or two of the Missouri game and we hit the ball pretty good, especially in the first or second when we had runners on second and third but couldn't get the key two-out hit. I think her best pitch is the sinker--and you simply have to lay off it if it's at the knees approaching the plate, because it will dip out of the strike soon. After the early part of the game our hitting obviously pretty much disappeared. She did not look like an especially overpowering pitcher to me, but she's obviously talented.

Good, we match up well with Bama and Florida. I think we will be 1-0 in the World series and then we would play Oregon if they beat Mizzou. I don't think we can see Oklahoma until the final. This is a good draw.

We get to play at home the entire time all the way up to the World Series if we can just win. I would like to see us get there we have an outside chance to win it we could get hot at the right time.

Booked my flight to Knoxville.... Big Ugh for last minute air fare and no easy way getting there.

Fresno to Vegas to Charlotte to Knoxville on my way there..... Knoxville to Charlotte to Atlanta to Phoenix to Fresno on my way home.... and still paid a lot for the flight.

We thought since Melissa couldn't play that the wife and I would stay home and watch on ESPN and save a few bucks.... wrong!

Games not on ESPN and I have to help move Melissa out of Vol Hall this week and into Temporary Housing.... my flight cost us more than we usually pay for both of us...

Need the Lady Vols to play like they are capable.... good pitching, solid defense and timely hitting.... and give Melissa another week closer to getting back to the team.

Post surgery Doctor appointment this Thursday at 8am...

Jeez! Sound like it's be cheaper to move! :)

Thought about going this weekend, since we just wrapped up HS softball (we got beat in the regionals), but we also have soccer still going on and I'm about "gamed" out.

We don't have southwest airline here in Fresno.... but personally, I would rather pay extra for the flight to go as quickly/directly from Fresno to Knoxville and back again.... (minimize transfers and layovers)

than to drive 3+ hours each way to LA or SF, ....the gas, you have to pay to park the car for 5 days.... and I would have to rent a car in Nashville and drive 2 & 1/2 hours each way to Knoxville, .... when I already have a car waiting for me in Knoxville... my daughter's car...

my time is too valuable to me .... the last thing I want to do after getting off a cross country flight is get into my car and drive 3 + hours to get home... to save a few bucks on an air fare.

That said, wish there was more options for affordable direct flights in and out of Fresno/Knoxville

That's what happens when you don't live in a hub. :banghead2:

We fly out of Oakland into Nashville or Greenville/ Spartanburg SC. Now that we have a kid in Asheville, we've added Charlotte to the mix. But even figuring driving to Knoxville, I figure that since we'll need a car while we're there, it's not that big a deal to grab the rent-a-wreck when we land and drop it off when we leave.

But I definitely hear you about dropping your car off at the long-term lot back home. :eek:hmy:

Yeah... I drove a car we purchased for Melissa from Fresno to Knoxville and back home her Freshman year and then back to Knoxville for her sophomore year... we decided to leave it back there and left it with a friend in Knoxville over last summer..... My point being, why would I want to rent a car when I already have one there in Knoxville waiting for me?

Our trip to Knoxville at the end of April was different... we flew into Memphis, rented a car and drove to Ole Miss... then drove to Nashville for the night.... then drove to Knoxville for the week.... then left the rental in Knoxville... you pay a lot more to do that but I didn't have to drive back to Memphis...

Are you heading back for the super regionals -even if Melissa still isnt cleared to play ? Maybe you can get some softballs signed this weekend - what kind of logo do the regional balls have on them ? Will reimburse you for one - its still a special team to me no matter how far they go :good!:

I will get some balls signed this weekend.... not going to Super Regionals.... and plan to go to World Series.

Getting balls signed is no problem except when I show up with a dozen balls at once.... it's always best to spoon feed the girls with a few balls at a time.

Mike.... I will get one signed for you... I think you sent me an email last time with your address... I will check for it or send me your address.....

mdavin@ddccpa.com

Edit...

Mike, do you still live at same address in Illinois?
