Austin Peay took advantage of unearned runs in both the seventh and eighth innings before breaking the game open with a three-run ninth as it defeated Tennessee, 8-4.

I'm so dam sick of losing to these in-state community colleges! I can't wait to start drilling their eyes out by 15 runs like we're supposed to.

Came on a night where Ole Miss lost to Memphis, Kentucky lost big to Louisville, and Florida lost to USF. Alabama nearly dropped their game with Samford.

SEC teams, even the top ones, have struggled mightily in midweek games this season.

I go to APSU. They have really stroked the ball this year. I think they are something like 11-3 in the OVC and have played big schools tough all year so this loss doesn't shock me.

no at-large this year. we will have to really play great to make the sec tourney. we all figured this anyway at the start of the season. just hoping for a winning season now. still, if we could sweep auburn, we might have a slight shot, but----

RPI down to 69 this morning. Reality is setting in. No talent, No NCAA tourney and more than likely no Hoover. A lot of work ahead for DS.

I don't know how you can say "likely no Hoover." All we have to do is not finish in the bottom two, and I think there's a pretty good chance that we avoid that, despite recent struggles. The other teams we're fighting have much tougher roads down the stretch.

we have to win at least 2 out of 3 against auburn, or no trip. we would be 1-6 in series with other teams, with 3 to go. it would take a miracle to go if we lose auburn series. love the vols and cds, but----

Likely is a little too strong but I would make a sizable wager if gambling was appropriate. I don't expect the Vols to make it. IMO AU and Vandy are both must win series and I dont think the Vols are good enough to win both

Certainly winning the Auburn series would put us in a good position. Here's a breakdown of what the teams we are battling have left:

Tennessee (7-11)
@Auburn (7-11)
Vanderbilt (7-11)
@Ole Miss (9-9)
Arkansas (9-9)

Vanderbilt (7-11)
Kentucky (13-5)
@Tennessee (7-11)
@LSU (12-6)
Ole Miss (9-9)

Auburn (7-11)
Tennessee (7-11)
@Georgia (8-10)
Arkansas (9-9)
@Florida (11-7)

Alabama (6-12)
@Carolina (11-7)
Mississippi State (8-10)
@Kentucky (13-5)
Georgia (8-10)

Of these four teams, we have by far the easiest road. With road series against the two best teams in the league, Alabama is all but eliminated.

Winning the series against Auburn is important, but they're staring at trips to Georgia and Florida after facing us.

Vandy gets Kentucky, the league's best team, this weekend, then goes to LSU after our series.

Also in play, Mississippi State and Georgia are just one game ahead of us at 8-10, Ole Miss and Arkansas, who we play are two games up at 9-9.

Ole Miss and State play this weekend, so one of them will fall to a bubble spot with the rest of us after this weekend.

I haven't been keeping up with them, but what has happened to Vandy?

You have missed the fun. No excuse for their season. Yes they are young but top 5 recruiting classes should insure this not to happen. Over scheduling had a lot to do with their troubles.

yeah, it wil come down to the last weekend for the 10th spot. we just have to play our best baseball in the last 12 sec games. ole miss and arky will be very hard to deal with. it reaaly does begin with auburn this weekend. i still say if we are 8 -13 after this series, we are in a world of hurt.

That's pathetic.

Reading a few of your post tells me your not very impressed with the Peay and their athletic programs!

The sad truth is the talent level at APSU is better at this time. If the 2 teams played 10 times APSU would win 7 of those games IMO. That's how bad of a situation DS inherited.
