I was just going by what the article stated

Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione has made clear he prefers to include perennial powerhouse teams on the non-conference schedule. Tennessee certainly fits the bill: since 1926, the Volunteers rank first in all-time victories, while the Sooners rank third. Surprisingly, the historic teams have only faced off twice, once in the 1939 Orange Bowl, a Tennessee victory, and once in the 1968 Orange Bowl, an Oklahoma victory.
