Vols to have Game Captains

I didn't see it discussed anywhere here yet. Fulmer announced that, for now, he will be announcing captains on a game by game basis rather than naming them for the entire season.

Not sure what it means. Maybe we have too many good candidates or maybe no one is worthy right now.

Man this is and easy pick on defense DT Harrell and CB WADE (makes big plays for us). On offense my Captain's are RB Foster and WR Meachem. I want to say Ainge is the captain but he really needs to step up and show me somthing. week to week just doesn't cut it the team needs those vet guys that have that leadership quality and stick behind them. GO VOLS

I think those would be good choices but I might have to include Sears. I think it's going to be important for him to be a leader on that line.

i have to agree i forgot about OL Sears. Sears would be a great leader for our OFFENSE. you opened my eyes, now i believe RB foster and OL Sears would be our captains

i think it is a great idea to use differant players every week for the differant games. that gets more people involved and it just might make the team come together more instead pushing any of them away.

personally, after i read the article i thought it was a great idea, and i really liked the idea of not naming any captains until the after the season...more in the realm of earning what you get, rather than just being given something.

the way i understood it was that they have more of a "team" this year, and that there are several good leaders, and it's been hard to choose captains.

either way, i like it. No individuals.

My HS football team did that our SR year and worked alot better than naming permanent captains.

By the by, Wilhoit, Sears, Swain, McBride, and Harrell were named captains for the Cal game. I'm kind of surprised that neither Wade nor Foster were named with how they've stepped up this offseason.

Maybe that will give them a little "chip on the shoulder" that they can unload on the Bears.

I don't see why if we are going to have JRs as captains. He is one of the hardest working players on the team and is a leader.
