There are rumors floating around other UT websites that Brent Schafer and James Banks will be transfering after the season. I was curious if anyone has heard anything similar or if the rumor had any fact behind it.

I don't buy it. For one I don't think Banks is going to transfer. He has a good family and I think they like Fulmer since he gave James another chance. I would be very suprised if that were true.

As for Schaeffer, that has been the million dollar question but I doubt he has made any decisions at this point or at least he would not be going around telling people about it. So I don't put much stock into either one ... at this point.

Banks has used his redshirt this year. If he transfers to I-A school he might have to still sit another year giving him only one year left "not sure though".

I'd like to have Schaeffer back as an athelete he could do all the things Tinsley couldn't, ala Reggie Bush. I don't think he has a future at QB here. However, he evidently switched schools often in high school possibly in search of playing time. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go.

Ah, the core of the internet. Rumors are rumors. You'll see BS back for sure and likely JB. JB will have a most difficult time nailing down a second string position next year.

Who cares? Those positions are pretty well stocked with the new recruiting class!! B)

Yeah, if Banks goes, no "big" loss for us. It would be nice to have Brent back, though. . . .don't forget the element he brings to the table when our O has needed a spark (ala South Carolina game).

Competition will be tough, but Crompton gets here and takes a redshirt while learning the O, backs up Ainge/Schaeffer second year, figure "maybe" one (or both. . . .) leaves early for the Big Bucks if they both continue to improve, and Crompton is in. I'll tell you this, however it plays out (barring another back-to-back injury scenario), it shhhhorre is nice having a slew of talented young guns taking snaps, eh?

I personally didn't get to talk to Ainge when he came back this last weekend, as he stayed in a friend's house way out in the boonies to avoid attention. But I did hear from the folks whose house he was at that he does feel somewhat threatened in his position by Crompton.
