Just putting in some negative perspective.

We are usually good for 1 or 2 series wins this time every year. We may beat UGA twice which could vault us all the way to #10!!!!

The Tide must feel so snake bit (and stupid)

So we have halfway through SEC schedule and sit at 4-11.

15 games to go and to have any expectation to get to Hoover we have to win 8-9 more games over next 5 weeks. To make the NCAA, the Vols will have to win 11-12 more game. So

UGA <====must win 2
@ Vanderbilt <====need 1 win (steal)
Miss. State <====must win 2
@ LSU <====must win 1
Auburn <====must win 2

I don't see 9 wins as I don't think the Vols can sweep any series (unless we play three 7-inning games)

LSU sits at 4-11 but there SEC schedule has been brutal. We will play a desperate team in Baton Rouge in 4-weeks that will be playing for SEC bid and NCAA seeding.

This is the best Vanderbilt team the Vols will ever play and I think this will be their last great team so it's now or never for Tim Corbin.

UGA used a tough out-of-conference schedule to be ready for SEC play. We may need 2 but we will likely get only 1.

Miss State is our best chance for series win. However, (Like LSU) their schedule was front loaded with the 3 of best 4 best teams (Florida, Vanderbilt and Arkansas) so they may be better than record indicates they are.

Auburn baseball (for whatever reason) is our kryptonite. I don't understand it and never will. 8/10 they are a worse team than us and will still win. Even during the mid 90's apex of our program.

We may need a sweep in week 10 and still may need help to sneak into #8 spot. Even then, we would likely be on the outside for NCAA bid.

This I do know...

Western Carolina
MTSU
@Tennessee Tech
@MTSU
Belmont

Todd Raleigh MUST go undefeated in these 5-games to have any shot at NCAA bid.

A little reminder of how Todd has done against his old program. 2-5; 5-1; 9-14; and 18-8 for a spectacular 2-2.

Prior to Todd's arrival, the Vols were 16-5 against the Catamounts. Including a lackluster 6-0 with Raleigh as Head Coach at WCU. (6-0, 12-1, 5-4, 6-3, 15-13 and 7-2)

Edit: in all seriousness, thanks for all the research.

Great job with the research! Will Raleigh be able to save his job if he somehow makes the SEC tournament?

If he somehow won it..maybe. I think Hammy is tired of firing coaches because he feels his time is coming. TR should have been gone already though.

Since we have never even made the SEC tournament under Raleigh, I wouldn't hold my breath this year either. He needs to go and soon.

I will stick to my guns. I see an average of 1 win per weekend. 0 wins against Vanderbilt who will cherish some double-digit victories after getting to our deep bullpen (per CTR before the season)

This will mean a series win against one of the other 4....(see Miss State or Auburn perhaps)

If the UTAD has any hope of seeing people in the stands this weekend, then CTR better beat WCU.

further research about WCU (they suck so we're doomed)

14-19-1 Overall
3-12 Conf.
9-8-1 Home
4-11 Away
1-0 Neutral

So, they play better on road. Suck in the conference (like Vols). They are 3-8 in their last 11 but three of those losses were to College of Charleston who would sweep Tennessee too. They lost weekend series to Ga Southern 1-2 and lost to the power that is UNC-Asheville last week 7-4. There best win, appears to be the one they'll likely earn tomorrow. They have no other quality wins

The last great team at Vanderbilt based on....?

They have been at the top of the SEC for the past six years. In 2007, they had the most talent and the best record in the country going into the tournament and got upset by Michigan...

Need to do more research on that one. Also, ANY thought of us making the SEC or NCAA tournament this year is a complete joke.

No joke, Corbin will always pull in any players he wants. Sure, they may go pro, but he has an insane amount of top 100 HS players coming in next year.

Have you guys not learned that I am never wrong. They have hit the apex and it's really all down hill after 2011. The system at Vanderbilt is not conducive for prolonged success and you will see their talent level start to drop slowly at first then precipitously later. Corbin after losing his "recruiting" expert as assistant will be out in a few years. He's gone as far as he can and they MUST win it all in 2011. No pressure.

Have you forgot who the AD is ? He might reward TR with an extension.
If MH fires him then hes going after the coach from grasshopper community college.

That would actually be "Grasshopper State Technical Community College and Trade School"

Go GSTCCTS!

After the hire is announced and the inevitably embarrassing press conference, would we have some Fightin' Locust fans around GSTCCTS write about what kind of genius Coach Tutwiler is and all those prior assaults on former players shows what a great motivator he is?
