TN Basketball vs FL Southern - YouTube

They were posted in the game thread but didn't want them to get burried. Good win! Slow start and then they really picked things up in the 2nd half. If we can stay healthy this team is going to be dangerous come March!

A few notes from s4z

Jarnell Stokes: looks leaner and way more explosive. Improved his free throws. Added a really nice turn around to his game. Rebounded like the monster he his!

Maymon: Had some really nice passes to Stokes. Those two are going to be a force down low. Both are excellent passers in the post. Both know how to use their body to get rebounds and to draw fouls. We ready need them to shoot around 65-70% free throws. Only negative I saw from Maymon was that he looked a little bit out of game shape. Which shouldn't be a problem once the season gets going and he gets some games under his belt.

Jordy Mcrae: What can I say...he picked up right where he left off, plus some! Hand down our best all around player and scorer. He looks even more explosive then before. He is so hard to guard when he drives into the lane because he is so lanky and knows how to move his body almost like he is slithering through the lane? He's really really impressive and I think he will be a 1st round pick next year in the draft and win SEC player of the year!

Richardson: didn't really get to see much from him only because I didn't get to see the whole game. But I did see a nice strong drive to the lane by him and his shot looks like it really did improve.

Thompson: first time watching him play and always heard people describe him as smooth. They are right. He is very smooth, from his dribbling to his shot. You can tell he is a coaches son. I don't think he's ready to start yet so I hope Barton comes back soon. Overall he's going to be a beast for us for 4 years.

Hubbs: As advertised! 17 points on his debut is really nice. Vs D2 or not. When you have to share scoring with Stokes, McRae, and Maymon that's no easy task. Has a silky smooth jump shot like DT and had a super nice hook shot in the game. Hubbs might struggle a little bit this year, but he gets to be mentored by one of the all time greats Jordy Mac...Hubbs might be the 6th man this year, but make no if's and's or but's, this will be Hubbs team next year.

AJ Davis: when I heard that he took over the back up 4 spot I didn't believe it. Well today he made me a believer. He needs to gain weight and I heard that he has already gained 15+ pounds since he has gotten here. To be 6'9 he sure is quick, with and without the ball. I think Martin got 2 steals in this recruiting class AJ and DT and people will question why they were only ranked 3 stars. Also I'm not sure if he's done growing yet even?

Moore: everyone knows I'm a huge Moore fan, because of how much I like his athleticism and hustle. If he could develop a shot and get better at handling the ball I think he could play in the NBA in a few years. He's an excellent rebounder and shot blocker.

Edwards: IMO he earned himself some minutes today. If he can keep that play up I think he'll crack the final rotation. Looked good rebounding the ball. Had a nice and 1 drive. He was the biggest surprise by me.

Q & Pops: didn't see any of their play today. Can someone help me out?

Reese: what can I say other than he's the GOAT. Has a shot like MJ and can drive like Lebron. He's going to make us say Bernard Who? I kid I kidd Krager :)

Yea he was the unfortunate beneficiary a coupes times of the rule change. With splitting time with Barton going forward the foul trouble for him shouldn't be much of an issue.

The 0 turnovers to 4 assists is what I like to see though from him, he was composed today.

Davis is pretty smooth. It is always nice to have a lefty on the team that can get to the hole.

Just watched the highlights. I'm most impressed with Stokes honestly. He looks like he is completely confident by the basket. He's going to be so fun to watch this year, as well as everyone else! The best thing about this team is it's hard to find a weak spot honestly. Everyone seems to have made such improvement this off-season.

loved Davis' versatility. big man that can post up and put it on the floor from the perimeter. very nice skill set.

He can guard 1-4. That's going to be huge going forward. He moves his feet very well. Once he learns positioning and whet to be on help defense he'll be a solid contributor for 4 years.
