Wow, talk about a team in need of a win. The Vols return to the friendly confines of TBA tonight after a tough week on the road. After two blow out losses in a row, can the Vols right the ship against the 'Dogs? If they want to go dancing, then this is a must win game if there ever was one. Vols 69 - 65 in a close one.

We haven't had a meaningful win since the Florida game. We really need this one...

For some reason I am not feeling this game, I think they match up well with us and I am envisioning alot of shot getting packed in our players faces.

If we lose this game we might as well pack it up and head in. This is by far the most critical game we have had so far, not the most popular, but the most critical.

MSU - 75
TN - 62

I hope they prove me wrong but I have a feeling its going to be another beat down

I hope the attendance is good for this game, especially the students. We need as much help as we can get from our fan base tonight. The students have kind of disappointed me this year with their lack of interest.

3rd in the nation in attendance for this team is actually impressive. Shows how much we suppoort our basketball team no matter what.

The next 4 games are must wins. I cannot believe the lack of effort this team has shown. Not just the past 2 games but the season as a whole.

Im a student, and its really difficult for me to make the effort to go watch these guys when they don't give a crap. All the games are on tv, so we usually just chill in the apartments so we can drink and watch.

The students' attendance has been an absolute disgrace.

They've had to start paying for tickets though haven't they?...For like the first time

That will drive away most college students despite their team affiliation or level of school spirit

I believe there are several reasons as to why student attendance has been down this year. The fact that we are not doing well is a factor, but there are other major reasons as well.
  • The fact that if you want to get a good seat, you have to wait in a long line. This is one of the main reasons as to why I didn't attend a few games this season. It hurts the atmosphere when the students, instead of pregaming, are standing in the freezing cold, hoping to get a decent seat in the rafters. If we changed to a ticket system like football, there is no doubt in my mind that I would attend every single game and more students would attend. This is the main reason, I believe, as to why not as many people dont show up to the games

Change it to a ticket system like football, and I will GUARANTEE a dramatic increase in student attendance

Pitiful excuse. Typical "ME" student

You shouldn't be guaranteeing anything. In fact, it wouldn't change anything at all. It is your generation's mindset as to why many don't go to games. That being said, you shouldn't say a damn word about it unless you go to the game tonight.

If you did this, then the excuse would be they don't want to wait in long lines for tickets. I think it is easier to just show up and swipe your ID to get in. This may be an excuse for some, but there are about what, 3,000 student seats? At the last home game (Vandy) on a Sat, there were fewer than 1,000 students at the game. What gives?

It would change everything.

Yall make it sound like it is the students obligation to go to the games. The athletes provide entertainment for us, the fans. I will support the team no matter what, but why on earth would I want to wait in the freezing cold for 2 hours when I could just sit at my house, drink cold beer, and watch the game on tv? We are playing poorly and until there is an increase in effort from the players, they arent worth that much of my time.

If tickets were issued, then I would go to every game as there would be no waiting. People don't complain about waiting in line for football tickets as they are issued at random.

And your claiming that it is my generations mindset that is causing these problems. Actually it is your generation who are turning a blind eye to a problem that would solve this issue outright.

By the way, I will be at the game tonight

I've wondered myself why the students haven't been showing up to the games this year (except for the big ones, i.e. FL). I can understand how they feel, but I also think it works both ways. The more fans/students that are there to support them, and cheer for them, the better the team will do. I think it helps the players when the fans are into the game. I'm not saying always, but imo it does help.
Let's at least try it any see!

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!:cheer:

Late start, but what station on direct tv is it? Oh, by the way I hate Duke but their student body never fails them at home on a basketball game winning or lossing season. It sure means a lot to the players,I know that. It's like yall are sending a message you don't care. Shame on the student body!:eek:hmy:
