Beasley
Keyton
Baron
Thomas
Warren

All had better stats than those chosen above them in the 3 teams. Burton as a WR was a disgrace. Anyone who voted for him should be ashamed.

Pre-season football awards are rarely based solely on prior statistics and even if they were, there's the question of which statistic should be used. For a receiver, do you rank them based on total receiving yards, yards per game, total receptions, receptions per game, yards per reception, yards per route run, yards per offensive drive, drop rate, etc.? Do you consider that they were gimpy or missed time due to injury, were an inexperienced underclassman playing behind an all-American, their quarterback got hurt in midseason, offensive line sucked, offensive coordinator sucked, scheme sucked?

In the end, voters pick who impresses them the most, or simply based on name familiarity or even personal bias, obviously without having anything close to full information about all of the potential candidates. Same for post-season awards. It's all very subjective and intended to generate fan excitement and, mainly, money for various interested parties.

Beasley was the best defensive player in the Orange Bowl. Keyton was much better that Burton & made big plays (Fla & Bama) in addition to his big plays in Orange Bowl. I could go on but won’t bore the rest of the board.

I wasn't disputing your thoughts above, just giving my view of how and why the system works as it does. When it comes to comparing players, teams, coaches, there are few facts, mainly just opinions and motives.

Statistically speaking, an argument could be made for Beasley being among the best, if not the best, linebackers in the conference.... and His tape would tell You the same. I can't think of any player in recent memory who's had His trajectory. He should be held up as an example of player development by this staff.
