An error on a popped-up bunt allowed Tennessee to score the go-ahead run in the ninth inning and junior Nick Blount came on to record his seventh save in seven consecutive games as the Volunteers edged No. 10 South Carolina, 5-4, in front of a sold-out crowd of 8,242 at Carolina Stadium on Friday night.

Is this not a bit of a big deal in SEC baseball? The SEC website only has the georgia game on their page, and unless I wasn't looking correctly, neither of those teams were ranked.

It was game of multiple lead changes, and Vols cameback on the road to beat the Gamecocks with 5th run scored on a throwing error giving the Gamecocks best pitcher Michael Roth his first loss. 7 Straight wins, and now 4 straight in the SEC.
So far in Friday games in the SEC they are a impressive 3-1.

Steckenrider hit a 2 run Homerun.

Hope that tommorow the Vols can win their 2nd SEC Series in a row, and beat another undefeated pitcher.

Actually, Roth wasn't the loser. Price got the L. (Just for clarification) :hi:

so how many innings is needed for a pitcher to pitch for it to be a win or loss in College Baseball?

0 innings for a loss. 5 or a predetermined innings amount for a win. Its "officially" up to the scorekeeper. In early season games pitchers usually go less than 5 and if this was predetermined, he is eligible for the win. Losses go to the guy who is pitcher of record when the final lead change occurs. Roth was replaced with the lead... So he could not lose.

The SEC hates us.

I've not been keeping up with baseball a great deal this year, but most everything I hear is really good. Glad to hear our men are doing so well.

Depends on when the lead changes, like if he was taken out with a lead he won't be the loser....unless... runners left on base are charged to the pitcher who put them on if they score.... and some other factors.
