While it’s been awhile since I posted, like many of you I’ve been following our Vols through the 2024 season.… I remember posting to my fellow Volunteers few years ago that I was “Feeling Satisfied” with our team…. and I remain so.
I’ve followed plenty of threads recently (which I’d actually prefer to comment on), but I’ve taken a different approach like some of the other “musings” I’ve posted in the past on VolNation.
In simple terms, if you told me our team would be 7-1 with victories against Oklohoma, Bama, and Florida this year I’d be estatic. Like life for all of us, once we taste “success” it’s hard not to yearn for even more. I’ll gently remind those who remain unenthusiastic that were still in a position to compete for the SEC championship this year.. just like when I was a student in the late 80s.
As I was doing my normal walk today, I began thinking about the “Tennessee Maxims” that General Neyland introduced almost 80 years ago and wondered if it wasn’t time to devolop/codify some “Maxims” that all Volunteer Fans can rally behind so we could all “figuratively“ slap the “I will give my All to Tennessee today” before expecting “winning” from those who wear our school colors. I certainly have my own maxims, but I will defer to the greater VOLNATION on this task. We’ve all been through a lot of adversity together over the years… just like ”our” team.
I’m personally thankful that our team’s destiny is in our current players and coaches own hands rather than my own…where it should be. Regardless of how this season turns out in a month or two, I’ll leave it up to you on what the “Maxims” for like minded VOL fans should adhere to... whether in adversity or in succes.
Go VOLS!
