VQ Article: Butch gets his quarterback

I think John Brice was drunk when he wrote that article.

Sentence structure is spotty to be sure. Still, content was pretty good, came across it on twitter, thought it'd be good to share with other knuckleheads on here like myself who have been eating and breathing the QB search the last few weeks.

Not to be a star gazer but rivals has him as a 2 star...is there something I missed that makes this guy such an amazing get? Or is it just that Alabubba offered him?

It seems like a lot of these 2* and 3* players Butch has gotten while here have also been targeted by the likes of bama and Auburn. This staff seems to know how to found talent around the country, which is a must here at UT.

He's a 4* on 247. He was injured his Junior year, think that's why Rivals hasn't evaluated him yet. His sophomore film is suppose to be pretty impressive.

4* on 247. He didn't even play his junior year and they ranked him that high. Rivals has not evaluated him yet and are notorious for throwing out a 2* tag because of it.

This kid will be a 4* across the board in the end IMO. A few have said if he had gotten to play last year he would have been a top 100 guy to start this recruiting cycle.

Edit: Looks like a 3* on scout so edited that out.

This is a classic situation of disregarding the "star-gazing". I'm just as guilty as anyone getting caught up in the star rating , but it isn't a perfect system. QD could very well end up as a consensus 4-star, and I would appreciate seeing that. However, I would also like the idea of QD getting a lazy scouting report from Rivals and others as a 3-star followed by Dormady performing as a 5-star at UT.

But what I really want to know is.....does CBJ take these matters personally??? How else would you take them? I do honestly think that some Gentlemen Jack may have been involved in the writing of this piece. However, I read it, and liked it nonetheless. GBO!!

Good thing Butch got his quarter back. Nick Saban tried to steal it.
Bammer coach takes a page out of da Bear's book ... even if the kid can't start or make da Bammer team ... if he has on a Bammer uniform he can't wear somebody else's and beat 'em ...Bammer football 101 ... Bear didn't have to grey shirt kids like Saban does ... he just dressed >120 players for home games ... dat's da Bammer way ...

Butch & Bajakian had him at camp, worked him some, he did a Bammer camp as well.

I think he's actually a seven star recruit...it starts over once they go beyond the five star...

I believe I would take Jone's & Saban's opinion over Rivals opinion any day of the week, and twice on Saturday. :hi:

"what he gleaned from some one-on-one time last weekend with former Super Bowl winning head coach Jon Gruden."

They mentioned Gruden! He's probably going to be AD soon, i hear he's looking for a house in Knoxville. <sarcasm> :)
