This matter should be left in the hands of the states. The feds should overturn the legislation illegalizing marijuana and let the states decide.

Potentially not far behind here. Although it's practically legal here as is, between lax loopholes and lack of enforcement. It's rare I go a day without walking by people sparking up in broad daylight.

Legalized iirc

That's what the headline says, but I can't read the article at work.

If legalized it means that it would be legal to grow and sell, correct? Decrim just means it's not illegal to possess, as I understand it.

Not necessarily. Pot is legal in bc. You can grow it, posses it and smoke it in designated areas but it's illegal to buy and sell. You have to grow your own

Which is funny because growing your own will get you max penalties in certain states. Smokers that don't want to support the black market drug underground will be ****ed by the long **** of the law.

Had a buddy move from here to CO to grow medicinal marijuana. Not sure if he ended up actually doing it, but he's in Denver now.

I've got about half a dozen friends who have fairly large grow operations. All of them had to get medical permission, but there are clinics who specialize in it; just go in, make up a condition and walk out licensed. There are also a handful of medical dispensers who you can grow for that allow for much larger crop yields, but getting those are more difficult.

Legalize it and watch how fast it goes from a states' rights issue to a federal issue. It will fall into the domain of agriculture and be not only taxed but regulated. Those thinking it should be left to the states are living a pipe dream (no pun intended). The Feds will get their share no matter what the item is.

I don't necessarily oppose with the Federal government taxing it, but the issue of legalization should be left to the states.

Half right. The feds should be left out of it.

The other half... the states should not be allowed to criminalize any behavior that is not inherently criminal.

(a true crime is one that has a victim. no victim, no crime. abusing yourself or your own property is not a crime, just stupid.)

FTR, I am in favor of legalizing all drugs.

Still, I would prefer to let the states decide on this issue themselves. Any challenges to a state's decision can then be handled in the courts.

Only reason it is not legal is because Kraft makes too much money off cigarettes and weed is easy to grow yourself. You also would only be able to tax one time on the sale of a plant unlike each time someone buys a carton.

I see no reason why pot is illegal other than that when alchohol is.

Me personally, I think weed is for pansies who can't step up to the hard stuff but that's just me.

For years I was against legalizing weed. I saw it as just admitting defeat in trying to keep drugs from gaining ground.

But I believe I was wrong. It's no more harmful than alcohol or cigarettes. Possibly less? Whatever it is, it's not in the same boat as cocaine, herion, ect. We have other issues that deserve more attention than weed. Legalize, tax it, and be done with it. Let the states decide what they want.
