Tennessee is hoping to close in the class of 2019 with west coast linebacker Henry To’oto’to. As the Vol staff gets a jump start on the class of 2020, the work in the west coast appears will continue. Tennessee has offered several prospects up and down the west coast including Sammamish, Washington tight end D’Andre Rogers. The 6-4, 230 pound four star prospect was offered by the Vols back in the fall. Earlier this week Vol assistant coach Brian Neidermeyer checked up on Rogers with a visit to his school coach at Eastside Catholic High School. Rogers and Neidermeyer have already developed a relation
“We have been texting and calling each other,” Rogers said. “They offered me mid-season and we had been talking since then.” Rogers likes what he has heard about the Vols and would like to see them as early as the spring. “I definitely like the culture there,” Rogers said. “They were talking about how they wanted to move the tight end around that fits my game. I definitely want to check them out.
Rogers has no ties to the south. He was actually born in Jamaica and moved to just outside Seattle when he was seven. He said distance is not a factor and hopes to spend his spring break in the south seeing schools like Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, LSU and more. “There are alot of schools really around the country that I would like to see and Tennessee is definitely one of those places,” Rodgers said.
As he visits schools this summer and takes his official visits in the fall, he has a couple of things he knows that will be important to him “Academics and if I can come in and make an impact right away,” Rogers said. “What offense I would have a biggest impact in and how to I fit with their culture. With 14 offers already, Rogers has has plenty of options and admits he’s a bit surprised it’s happened this quickly. “It’s just an honor to have all these schools believing in me and saying that I can have an impact at their school,” Rogers said.
