Interesting to compare Wade Houston and Holly Warlick, two very successful long-time assistants and veritable institutions at their respective schools, and how they made different decisions regarding their coaching futures at roughly the same point in their career.

After 13 seasons as Denny Crum's right hand man at Louisville, Houston took UT's offer to become HC. Whereas Holly turned down similar offers to take the reins of other programs deep into her tenure with Pat.

Any thoughts Louisville may have had of bringing Coach Houston back after Crum's departure were dashed after CWH's 22-loss season and eventual firing.

One wonders how Holly would have faired had she left Knoxville to take on her own program. As it was, Pat stepping down led to UT taking another flyer on a longtime assistant with no head coaching experience. Although Holly's W-L numbers are certainly better than Houston's at the same juncture...the downward trajectory does compare, unfortunately.

It's an insult to Wade Houston to even mention his name in the same breath as Warlick. He didn't take one of the premier programs in the nation and turn it into a laughingstock. The more that UT hangs on to that hack of a coach the faster it will turn into La. Tech or Old Dominion. She needs to be gone now before the damage escalates.

You guys are sofa king nuts. 5-22....Let that sink in. Were any of you even alive at the time, let alone following UT basketball? Holly may have her troubles, but she's not even close to the level of bad Wade Houston achieved.

Holly stutters way more than Wade did. She can't make a coherent statement, it's just a matter of time before she has the worst recruiting classes in school history.

I'm sorry but this post is totally inappropriate for this forum. You must bash the LV coaching staff or players in order to be accepted here. As far as your question about being alive at the time, the answer is, for most of these posters, a resounding NO. In fact, I doubt many were born before 2000.

This strange thread makes me conjur up two thoughts: I wish Holly had a niece or cousin who could shoot like Wade's amazing son, or I wish Holly were retired and running an extremely successful Harley franchise (closest comparison I can think of to match Wade's trucking empire).

I had season tickets all through the Houston years.

As far as "not even close to the level of bad"...everything is relative, right? Houston started near the basement with UT whereas Holly was handed arguably the top program in the women's game. Houston's son was his only top-150 player...does Holly have any player who wasn't a HS All-American? Who knows...if Wade had teams stacked with McDonald AAs he might still be here..

So one below-average season makes us a "laughingstock" in your mind?

The way some of you talk, you would think the team hadn't made the tournament since she's been here. Three SEC championships in three years. Elite 8 10 months ago.

This season has been disappointing so far, but laughingstock? Give me a break.
