We might get our teeth kicked in. We might keep it kinda interesting and have some of our dudes show that they have high-level talent. Some of them really do, especially the freakin DLine.

After all the crap that ruined our college football season last year -- we just want to see them play for their fallen teammates, be competitive, get first downs, not get injuries, and show the nation that UVA football has the potential to one day add football to the high status that practically all of our other sports carry.

We're one of the best athletic departments in the country, have an $80M+ football facility that will be completed in Spring 2024, and yes -- we care about football just like we care about basketball. It's just deflating sometimes. I think UVA football can be consistently solid one day. It will take being competitive in games like this though. We were right on track with the rare victory over the ACC Champ and Orange Bowl appearance before Covid. We then had a coward-of-a-coach that quit on us at a terrible time in the year, and now a new coach that had a rushed, discombobulated start.

Appreciate the kind words from some folks on here saying that they'll root for us all year. If you weren't aware -- #7 Mike Hollins was shot that day and fought for his life. Most didn't think he would play football ever again. So if you're rooting for anyone from the Hoos to find paydirt -- root for him.

Excited to be there, and hoping UTK x UVA fans can have some good times together. My business partner is a Vol, and we're looking forward to sitting together in the stands.

All I ask is for a good time. Paying too much money for all this **** anyway.

Hoos +28, Hoos Over 3.5 Wins, and Hoos to the SEC (see below).

See you soon!

I believe if you go to any conference it will be the Big10. I would most certainly pull for Virginia ig they played Michigan and Ohio State regularly.

Excellent post and classy stop-in visit to our board. I have a bit of knowledge of and history with the UVA program and school and I personally find many of their graduates unpleasant to deal with thanks to the "looking down their noses" at other schools because of their rich academic history and history in general - a bit Vanderbiltish to me. But with a classy and well researched post from above, I think I can pull for them for the rest of 2023. I for one was frightened that your coach TE was going to take the Tenn job (since it was probably unofficially offered a couple of times) because he is just too unproven and I don't believe he can be a consistent winner in our league, or even be the head ball coach in a big program, but time will tell. So good luck to the "Hoos" after opening weekend.

Good luck this year. I live in RVA and frequently pass through Charlottesville for work and fun. That place has had a rough go of it for awhile on several fronts, hopefully it's all in the past now. I'm hoping to go to a UVA game this year just to add it to my stadium checklist. As you mentioned, your athletic department has been very successful across the likes of basketball and baseball. The Vols actually finished tops in the country this year for a similar metric (not the director's cup because Stanford usually wins that due to all the silly aquatics stuff).

I think UVA has a pretty cool campus, and pretty broad reach in Virginia but I still think VT is the better overall option for the SEC. UVA is of higher academic prestige obviously, and I think would fit in better with the Big10 both culturally and in terms of finding some success. Not sure about those AD $ numbers, but Tennessee was over $200m this year. If the UVA amount is correct that would put them on par with Ole Miss and Arkansas range.

I'll be worried about the vols this year if we don't win by 3 touchdowns. I think there's a good chance UVA maxes at 2 wins this season, and this based on UVA coworkers occasionally talking cfb.

As long as you aren’t a Hokie!

I have nothing against UVA, VT on the other hand can rot. All opposing fans that are respectful are almost always welcomed by most UT fans and I’m certain you will find your game experience to be a positive event. You may not find the final score to your liking, but a fun environment should be had.

GO VOLS!

I’m hoping Virginia does well this year (after September 2nd). Also would love to see UVA & UNC in the SEC—the geographic proximity of UT, UK, UVA, and UNC seems like it would lend itself for some good rivalries to develop there.

I hope you know you ruined everything. I live in Richmond and I have committed myself to hating UVA. Then you go and post a respectful, thoughtful post like this. What am I to do?

I still hope you lose by 50 on September 2- I have trash talked too much to walk it back now. After that, I hope you win every game. This would only help our SOS.

Thanks for the conciliatory post. I hope UVA has a better than expected year after they play UT. However... I doubt this game will be competitive at any point. The two programs are just in two completely different places. That's not a knock on UVA in general or the possibility that someone puts together a good program there in the fairly near future. The resources and support are there to do it.

Heupel is a better coach. Even if he weren't, the talent disparity is pretty big. UT is likely to have a top 15 roster in terms of talent as scored by 247 Sports. UVA is likely to be below Vandy and outside the top 60.

Football is a strange game sometimes and anything can happen. But the likelihood is that this is not your game to turn the corner.

If Virignia's strength is the DL as poster says, this game will tell us a lot about where our o line stands. It could be interesting especially if Mays doesn't go.

Welcome West Palm Wahoo, I always enjoy some friendly dialgue leading up to the game. I do wish your team and university the best after the tragedy you have endured.

Go Vols.
