If Wake Forest finishes the season out undefeated and wins the ACC do you think they get into the playoff ?

The ACC is a mess. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season we would be looking at a possible Wake Forest / Pitt championship?

I will say this, Wake Forest is damn good. Clawson has done an amazing job there.

Depends on what happens around them. If Bama wins out and gives UGA their only loss, the SEC gets 2 of the 4 spots. That's going to make it really tough. 1 loss tOSU gets in over them. Oregon might as well. And of course Cincinnati could steal a seed.

In a UGA/Bama/Ore/OSU scenario Cincinnati gets left out in the cold along with WF. When Cincinnati should get Oregon’s spot.

If Bama wins out and we have two 1-loss SEC teams, there will be some real butthurt. Imagine an undefeated Wake Forest left out over three 1-loss teams, with two being from the same conference. You also have Oklahoma and Mich St. sitting there undefeated too.

The MSU/OSU game will be huge. No way you can leave out Mich St if they beat the buckeyes. I would also argue Oregon has the best win of any 1-loss team.

The season could play out where you just throw your hands up and say I don't know.

Undefeated P5 teams is gonna be tough to keep out for a group of 1 loss teams.
That’s why I’m saying to. Nobody is paying Wake Forest much attention and do I think they can beat Georgia , Ohio St or Bama? no I don’t but if they finish 13-0 and win the ACC which of course is a power 5 league then I just don’t think you can leave them out. This is why I wanted a 8 team playoff not a 12 but 8 would just about be perfect. Dave Clawson has done a hell of a job there.

Only the Big 10 & SEC are pushing 12. They know their top teams will get byes and they’ll get 3 teams at least in each yr.

The NCAA has long made it known that they value historical success over current season record. Hopefully this will finally force an expanded playoff. My dream would be 8 teams - one from each P5 conference champion, the highest ranked G5 team, one at large P5 team, one at large G5 team. Spread the wealth and give these G5 teams a shot.

Not enough big boys to quench the thirst of P5 conferences for TV money. Networks would rather have a 2 loss Texas or Florida than a 1 loss UCF or SMU to play Alabama.

No doubt. Unfortunately, we’ve moved far beyond what college athletics is supposed to be about.

Agree. Why else would SEC bring in Texas & OU? It’s only about “driving revenue” just like Amazon or Walmart or your local govt or hospital.

I never thought I’d see the day where the Swiss would be top 10. Good for them. Clawson has done a great job.
The next 4 games are pretty tough. @UNC, State, @ Clemson and @ BC. I don’t think they go through that unscathed . At least 3 of those teams are more talented . If Wake wins this weekend I think they’ll lose to State.

Love that classy little University and go to as many games at quaint truist field as I can living close to Winston-Salem NC..... I'd love to see them make the CFB playoffs but I don't think they will.

They value strength of schedule. Wake is having a nice season, and a great season by their standards, but who have they played? They are a top 10 team. Is there anybody in the rankings ahead of them who you think should be behind them? Some of those wins (Louisville, Syracuse, Army) have not exactly been impressive either.

It's not their fault the ACC stinks, but you can't put a team in the playoff just because they are undefeated. This isn't the NFL where every win is created equal.

Cincy doesn't belong in the conversation.
No one besides Georgia, Bama, and OSU belong in the conversation.

There are very few elite teams, a good bit of great teams, oregon, ok, cinci, michigan st maybe, sec #3, wake maybe. None of the great teams are going to beat the elite teams in a playoff situation.

I think Wake will lose 1 of the next 2 against either UNC or NC State.

Not even Oregon? Who beat OSU. I mean Bama is tough but lost to a 2 loss A&M team. Michigan St is undefeated and may stay that way. Lots of football to play, should get interesting
