As much as I hate to see Wake go down again, nothing cheered me up more than a Tennessee victory and Duke getting their internal organs handed to them by a team that won't make it past the first weekend in March.

Just like wake got their internal organs handed to them by a team last night by a team that won't even make it to the tournament..:birgits_giggle:

what is reality for the Demon Deacons?
That they are a painfully young team that will be exceptionally fortunate to make the second weeknd of the NCAA Tournament.

Dukies hold no bragging rights in the Wake conversation right now, or do you have a short memory?

Also, Miami has a decent shot at making the tournament.

They are young. And talented.

If they play like they did against Miami, they won't win their first game...unless they get really lucky.

If they play like they did against UNC, Duke, Clemson, BYU, or BC, they could make it to the Final Four - without any additional fortune.

My memory is quite fine, but Wake doesn't have much to brag about as of recent by losing to the low tier in the ACC, and Wake still has Duke to play at home, their bragging right for winning at home will come to an end in a few weeks.

Yeah the NIT.

BYU is about the fifth best team in the Mountain West. Boston College lost to Harvard. I'm pretty sure they won't get any NCAA Tournament in Winston Salem. Thus, their students should keep their spring break plans. The Dance won't get in the way.

Taking a crew of youngsters across the country to play in Utah against a sound team is at least somewhat indicative of an early NCAA tourney contest. They passed that test.

BC also is the only team to win at Chapel Hill this year, and that may still be the case by the end of the season.

Winning at Littlejohn, against this Clemson squad, is impressive.

Wake might not make it to the Dance. Saying they have no shot after a couple of bad games sounds reactionary and myopic.

I think he was referring to BC's students rather than Wake's.

Yeah the NIT.

Are you seriously suggesting that Miami has no shot at the NCAA tournament? Have you seen the last 5 games on their schedule?

you have to be exaggerating. They're headed to the dance.
Most schools take Spring Break concurrent with the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Students at Wake Forest need to keep their reservations to Cancun, South Padre Island, et al. That's my point.

that may be sage advice regardless of how well their team fares in the tourney. you can only attend wet T-shirt contests so long before it just becomes creepy.

So who is the class of the ACC right now?

Carolina can score but can't defend...sound familiar?

I agree with Hat that Wake has hit the "too much youth" wall...

I think Duke has been exposed as the same ol' Duke of the past 5-10 years...a jump shooting team with no inside game that will get muscled around and lose if they're not hitting 3's

But I don't think any team in that conference outside of those three have a legit shot at anything significant...including the ACC regular season or tournament...

Thoughts?

5-10? I wish. That would mean there is an inside game somewhere in those past 10... wonder which year?

I have a friend who follows them....says something along the lines of they're really athletic/athletes which means some games they're going to be great, and other games they're going to come out and fall right on their face

Boozer and Brand right?

And...surprise surprise.....in those two years Duke won it one time and was on the wrong side of one of the biggest NC title game upsets I can remember in the other...

Am I mixed up on my years?

99 was Brand and you are correct, total upset by UConn. Great game though.

01 was Boozer, Battier and company.

It would be nice to have a post..
