After Georgia intentionally walked Khayyan Norfork to load the bases with one out in the 10th inning, Tennessee senior Matt Duffy calmly delivered a walk-off single, lacing an 0-1 pitch high off the wall in right to lift the Volunteers to a 5-4 victory over the Bulldogs on a beautiful Friday night at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

A very close game with the Dawgs refusing to quit.
In the first game for the Vols in the 2nd half of the SEC 1st time they won a SEC game on Friday, and they did by winning in their first extra innings game.
Short amount of time
Osborne continues to produce web gems on defense, and 1RBI three hits with five at bats.
Norfork in a short amount of time stole his 23rd, and 24th base.
Vols 2-5 hitters a combined 8 for 17 with 3 RBI's.

Twice Duffy was detrimental to the Bulldogs with a soft single could have been caught 3rd run, and producing a walk off single to win game.

Excellent there was not another cancelled game with rain.

From the article:

""How big was that play in a one-run game," Raleigh said. "Wes works hard and is probably our best defensive catcher. It was a huge momentum swing. We came right back and got the lead-off walk and got things rolling from there. I can't tell you how big that play was. It was huge." "

He is also their most experienced catcher and could be a game changer in many ways. So why doesn't Raleigh play him????

Because he can't hit.

Because he can't hit.

A thinking man would have to ask, "How would anyone know?"

His average is in the upper half of the team and ahead of everyone else catching. And he doesn't cost them runs. That can't be said about the others.

At this stage of the season, Raleigh might be wise to try about anything. It sure couldn't hurt.
