Maybe and just maybe he could race his way into this race????

The top crew chiefs in Nextel Cup racing will trade their wrenches for driving suits during the inaugural Kobalt Tools Crew Chief Race Saturday night, May 19, at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The event will be the featured pre-race entertainment for the Nextel All-Star Challenge. Utilizing Thunder Roadsters manufactured by 600 Racing and decaled to replicate the paint schemes of the Cup cars they oversee, the crew chiefs will compete in a 30-minute racing program that will include two qualifying heats and a feature race. The racing action will take place on the speedway's quarter-mile oval, located on the frontstretch of the 1.5-mile superspeedway, and will be televised by Speed Channel. Expected participants include: #5-Alan Gustafson; #45-Billy Wilburn; #48-Chad Knaus; #25-Darian Grubb; #07-Gil Martin; #11-Jeff Hammond (Speed Channel); #41-Jimmy Elledge; #1-Kevin "Bono" Manion; #28-Larry McReynolds (Speed Channel); #43-Paul Andrews; #31-Scott Miller; #40-Steve Lane; #24-Steve Letarte; #29-Todd Berrier; #8-Tony Eury Jr.(LMS PR)(4-6-2007)

They better be sure to inspect those Hendrick crew chiefs' cars well before the race starts.

Eury Jr. will probably lead most of the race but decide to make a pit stop at the last second.

His brilliant idea of spinning himself out to cause a caution and catch up will be foiled by saying over the radio, "Man, I've never had to spin myself out to cause a caution before!"
