War in Ukraine

I think people's motives here in the state (as far as the powers that be) come from different lines of thinking as far as support for Ukraine goes. Some most certainly see it as a way to enrichen themselves. Either by eventually getting a deal like Hunter and Joe got over there, or by some other means since Russia and Ukraine are two of the most corrupt countries on earth. Others see it as a chance to knock down one of our biggest adversaries a notch. Others still don't want Putin emboldened. After Ukraine, who's next? Does Russia go after a NATO country next? Russia keeps doing the same thing over and over. Country after country. So, if Russia can get its nose bloodied bad enough in Ukraine, then it may at least significantly delay them from trying this again....possibly avoiding WWIII. This this last reason is why I hope Russia loses. I don't support sending cash....at all.

You mean like spending it on education here? Ukraine is a black sucking hole for American dollars so long as we are willing to send cash. The American education system is the same way. No dollar escapes.

I get the idea of picking a side and rooting for them. I just don't understand bankrolling a foreign war that doesn't affect the USA when so many American neighborhoods, urban and rural alike, are poorer and more crime-riddled than any of the neighborhoods in the developed countries.

Again I have no idea who that is yet you’re mesmerized by them/it. Everybody needs somebody sometime I guess 😂🤡

As many times as you've quoted Sarah in this thread, I'd bet my life and all my worldly possessions that at this very minute you're wearing a blond wig just like his, that you wear it slightly crooked just like he does, and that you actively cheer for him and his army "buddies."

I guess you’re out the 50 bucks worth of worldly belongings you no longer have then Brucey. And the only person I ever see talking about them/it is you. A bit of an unhealthy fixation don’t you think? 🤡

Even Moe’s lapdog sibling Kadyrov is getting on board with the negative advance narrative. Hilarious.

Analysis: Russia's withdrawal from half of Kherson is both humiliating and unsurprising

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who has often been critical of the Defense Ministry and the high command, said Surovikin had saved a thousand soldiers and "made a difficult but right choice between senseless sacrifices for the sake of loud statements and saving the priceless lives of soldiers."

Kadyrov added that Kherson was a difficult place to fight, especially without guaranteed resupply routes.

As long as it takes.

Don't worry. The war will be over in months, not years.

Putin's dirt nap is inevitable.
Months from February 2022? This will go until at least May/June 2023.

I love all the ignorant people who think things are over one way or the other.

1. Nothing has changed that changes the war.
2. It's getting cold and muddy over there so you are going to see less happening than previously. At least if either side has any brains. Ukraine will take abandoned territory but not much else. That doesnt mean the war is ending.
3. Putin mobilized a bunch of dudes. He wants to use them. This wont end until then.

Mkay. Did you support it?

I did initially when the goal was to get Bin Laden and smack the crap out of Al Queda.

But then we shifted to the BS goal of "nation building". What a crock.
Why do think Zelensky is already dropping prices on the rebuild? He wants in on the "bs goal of nation building"

We're not going to see dramatic movement unless Ukraine can cut Russian supply lines.

The Dnieper River is just as big an obstacle for Ukraine on the offensives as it is for Russia on defense. I’m wondering if they will try to pivot North and get enough troops across to mount a reasonable offense while at the same time trying to cut the supply lines along the Azov coast. And now would be a great time to finish the job on the Crimean Bridge.

Well at least this time we arent DIRECTLY arming the cartels and gangs causing the problems here. That's improvement, right?

Guarenteed supply routes? Man if they cant supply a city on the border Russia is struggling HARD. Maybe they are finally willing to admit some of these western weapons are being effective.

And until after the spring thaw is over. General winter can always count on the full support of General Mud over there. Especially fighting around these low lying regions around bodies of water.

Have we given Ukraine any hovercraft? Those would be worth their weight in gold in that conflict.

Never going to happen. We’ll be seeing a Baghdad Bob response as the rockets impact their targets in the background in real time.

It’s hard to try and claim anything other than Russia has gotten their asses kicked since their initial offensive fizzled out and they didn’t get the regime change they wanted in the first couple of weeks. And it’s clear that the rest of the world has once again highly over estimated the fighting prowess of the Russian military.

I think they underestimated pretty hard. Both offensively they werent able to take as many critical pieces as they thought, and then defensively they never saw the Ukrainian attack coming.

I think come spring, similar time frame as the attacks this year, you will see Russia roll in again. Kinda like letting a scrappy G5 team hang around. Suddenly Applachian State sees the scoreboard is tied or within range, and they think they can play with all those 5 star recruits from TAMU. And even though TAMU should win 9/10 this may be the 1/10 because they let them hang around just a little too long.

I expect Russia will come back a little more serious and more gloves off in the second half. But I am doubting it will be as effective as it would have been from the start. Sure they will retake a lead, but will they be able to hold it? I think Ukraine keeps this one close, and very interesting until the end.

(1) The level of Russian troop / equipment losses is ramping up to absurd levels. The new conscripts apparently are simply no match for the UKR military. Plus, Ukraine is getting more and more surface to air power. Combined, the net trajectory is towards a cliff for Putin. He'll hold on until he doesn't, then the entire operation collapses.

(2) Actually, once the winter sets in, armor does very well and offenses can and will occur. The Pentagon is feeding Ukraine not only the hardware to destroy Russian troops but also actionable intelligence. Once Kerson is secured and the Raputitsa complete, I'd expect a significant Ukrainian offensive... I'd guess straight SE towards the Azov Sea - effectively cutting the occupied areas in half.

(3) The conscripts and prisoners are, to date, pathetic. If Putin manages to hold out until a good portion of the conscripts are adequately trained instead of immediately mobilized, then he holds out to Spring.

Just my $0.02.

Once Kerson is officially liberated, the next phase of this war will be interesting.

Does Ukraine cross the Dnipro river in the Kerson region or do they keep a small artillery force in the region to hit targets on the other side of the river while sending their infantry to another axis?
