War in Ukraine

Have you even bothered to look up Stepan Bandera and the ultra nationalism that has been taking place in Ukraine since about 2013-2014? Stepan Bandera hated Russians and Poles with a passion.

I've already called out Putin numerous times as well so I'm not going to keep myself on repeat there.
Why should care about someone who has been dead for 63 years? Doesn’t that show how desperate you are? Anybody here could bring up numerous historical crimes upon the Ukrainian people caused by leaders in Moscow, but that’s not relevant to the current situation.

Not until you acknowledge 'Volodymyr The Russian Holodymyr' is pretty catchy.

Well, yes, I have; what about Stepan Bandera and the ultranationalism especially in the Donbas where Putin separatists are operating? And if Russian thugs were not operating there, why would Ukrainian ultranat be any of Putin's concern?

But couching your callouts with Russian propaganda Nazi talk, blunts your callout. Mountain and mole hill thing.

Let's not be hasty; I'd like to hear RasDonGr's scintillating Stepan Bandera wrap.

No, I'm not "now asserting", I have always asserted Russia has a legal justification for their invasion. The same legal justification, broad interpretation of self defense, as the US uses. How is that not clear? My 5th grader easily understands this concept.
They want carry on to this notion that the US is the good guys and we always have justification, but the Russians are the baddies and their security concerns can be ignored.

This is where I'd drop a link like this and smugly ask @Rasputin_Vol if he wanted to post his "got any more of those sanctions" meme.

5 Charts That Show the Hit to 'Russia Inc's' Credit Rating: S&P Global (businessinsider.com)

Sadly, this is going to affect the people of Russia horribly as its government and industrial sector slowly implodes and ultimately collapses. It just won't seem that funny to mock it any more.

Putin has unwittingly started the process of turning Russia into a third world country while he bombs another one. Not only will he go down as an insane war criminal to the rest of the world, Russia's history will hold him responsible for setting them back 100 years.
Who gives a damn about a credit rating that is centered on the West when China and India are still willing to trade with you?

The world doesn't revolve around Europe and North America.

So now we have Ukrainians arriving in the US as well. I guess it was expected. I've left the news alone during March Madness for the most part. Clearly that's over now.

The irony is Putin has done more to justify and solidify this belief than to change it.

In the battle to win the hearts and minds of his own people, the Ukrainians, and the rest of the world; Putin has been a colossal failure - and it's a failure from which he will never recover.

OK Baghdad Bob, companies are collapsing left and right already. You keep whistling past the graveyard as Russia becomes a third world gas station that has to sell oil to China at fire sale prices.

You chided this board about listening to MSNBC and Fox. Those two media retailers are far more trustworthy than "US politicians".

I wasnt talking about their trustworthiness but more their threats toward Russia over the last decade.

Yes we were going to bomb or invade Russia before their invasion and Putin has to defend himself by invading Ukraine. Correct?

Your position is the threats by our politicians and govt were...what? Not serious? I think our recent history would say otherwise.

How much stock do you put into what leaders say? Biden? Erdogan? Xi? Kim Jong Un? Putin? Which (if any) are the most genuine, and why?

You can choose not to believe him, but Putin has laid out his reasons. You dont have to guess.

Their failure was to not more forcefully counteract Putin's military aggression.

Wrong again. Seems to be a theme with you. The average Russian will suffer less than the average European/US citizen will due to these samctions. They will however hurt the average Russian oligarch/upper class, which only helps improve Putin's favorability. Add to that the sanctions drive a resource rich Russia into the arms of China/India/Middle East. Great job, Biden. Completely incompetent.
