I might have missed if this was already started or out there but in terms of recruiting, does this give us another scholarship for next year?

Side note: maybe it's "effect". I always mess those up.....

I have been waiting to hear Hubbs address Warren's effect on the numbers. I expect a few guys to transfer or to get "the talk."

I expect our final class to be in 29-31 range. The max we can back-count to 2009 is 6, meaning our early enrollees would count towards 2009 instead of 2010. Then we could take on 25 in the new calendar year of 2010.

The 28 rule means you can't over-sign and then put guys in JUCO's like Houston Nutt did in order to inflate his team's rankings. He knew those guys couldn't qualify when he included them in their class.

It tells recruits and parents that this is a place where there soon will thrive and not be distracted by cancers and thugs.

In theory if the James Green rumor is true, wouldn't he take Warren's scholly spot so it would be exactly the same numbers wise as what we already had?

You were right the second time. It should be Warren's Effect.

Where are you getting 6, TJ? The most we can backcount remains 2. That would make 25 enrolled from last year. The only thing Warren would affect would be the overall number of 85.

Warren's scholarship cannot be given to anyone else. It does not effect the number of scholarships available for next year. It will, however, reduce the number of returning scholarship athletes from 63 to 62 (by my count) – meaning it will open up some room under the 85 limit to enroll the initial counters from the 2010 class. To enroll 27, for example, 4 more players must either not return or not have their scholarships renewed.

I thought I heard Kiff said they would still honor his scholarship.

His test scores and or GPA was flagged. He is in prep school in Boston and going to enroll at UT to play next year.

Enroll in January too :)

I'm glad we finally got this guy in...I think he's going to have a much bigger impact then some expect next few years. Talent at WR position is no longer an excuse starting next season.

he was already on a short leash for being lazy throughout the preseason and season.

Per John Brice:
"Brandon Warren is no longer on the team," said Kiffin, who's seen more than a dozen players leave Knoxville on their terms or his in 10-plus months on the job. "He has been dismissed for conduct detrimental to our team. We wish him the best of luck. We will give him full academic support and keep him going in school. That's going to be my only comment on it. It's very unfortunate."

the last straw was him throwing his helmet and doing all but punch frank wilson. the first report was that he was suspended for the season so I wouldn't be surprised if he continued to talk back even after the fact to get him his dismissal.

Our 2009 class was 22. James Green didn't make it in, which reduces the class to 21. We back-counted 2 guys to 2008, so then 21 becomes 19...the max you can take in during a single calendar year is 25. If our 2009 class was 19 after the back-counts, then the maximum we could back-count would be 6. You always want to back-count the maximum, so that you have room in future classes.

That sounds about right.
