Well, it can 'shorten' your life. I got life insurance right after the diagnosis and boy did the rate jump. But healthcare in general is a mess right now. As for the APAP, didn't really feal more 'refreshed' after using.I swear to God, I don't know how anything gets accomplished in healthcare anymore. So many fricking specialists, so many fricking consults, so many fricking reasons to wait and wait and wait. My sleep apnea machine is dying. I started about seven weeks ago trying to get a new one. Between waiting for the next available appointment and then asking which provider I was wanting and then my sleep doctor sending the request to a different provider that I specifically did now want (though I did not say I did not want them, I did say who I wanted) and then the provider not having all of my information (they did have my phone number) and then not calling me and then not being available when I call and then finally returning my call and then telling me ok now that we have your information, I will start on getting this together for you and then telling me they will call me to tell me when they are going to have the respiratory therapist call me next (they have to get their piece of the pie) and then maybe I can finally go pick up my ****. But, at this point, I have zero faith it is going to happen anytime soon. I am glad that sleep apnea at least is not life threatening........
Easy fix is just stop sleeping. . . or breathing, which is what it sounds like the wouldn't mind you doing.I swear to God, I don't know how anything gets accomplished in healthcare anymore. Our healthcare system has been broken af for as long as I can remember. Obama/ACA at least got millions ability to get insurance (even if **** coverage, welcome to American health insurance!). I will say the President after promised something "grand, wonderful, the best!" but didn't pass even with the majority in House and Senate. That is the definition of failure. I've been on a few employer plans that surface level seems great but the experience is also awful. It's because corporate greed always wins out as the deciding factor. Profits vs providing fair, reasonable coverage just doesn't mix as they counteract one another. This current system in 100% of American medicine is Obamacare. This is not a political post; it's just a fact. They had power to push through anything and everything they wanted. I wish people would realize that and call it by its proper name. I may have voted for dude, so don't @ me. But you had to pass it to find out what's in it. Could have been anything they wanted in it. Had the votes. The so-called "Opposition" party and the public were kept in the dark, except for the biggest selling points to run in the media. Anything that was not changed was left in place knowingly and by choice.

I know I told you all about my mom's cancer...not sure if I said anything about my granny being diagnosed with breast cancer about 2 weeks after my mom finished her treatments...I swear to God, I don't know how anything gets accomplished in healthcare anymore. It's horrible. And I never said it hasn't always sucked. Our healthcare system has been broken af for as long as I can remember. If you want to fix healthcare, you can't start with insurance. That seems antithetical, but it's not. The cost of insurance is a response to the cost of healthcare. We have providers charging massively high prices, and that's passed onto Insurance companies. We have a hyper-litigious society, which causes high malpractice premiums, which adds to the high costs of healthcare.Obama never wanted to deal with health care. He was the last candidate to put a plan together and then it was the absolute least. So yeah, they had the votes but they didn't have the president for it. They had one that was ambivalent on health care.

Obama and the dems demonized Insurance companies like they're screwing members and getting rich. They're really not. Premiums go up because costs go up. The underwriters have formulas that dictate how much to charge, cover premiums, and stay competitive enough to attract customers. Trust me, there isn't a single insurance company that wants to be too expensive for potential customers to afford.
In Latin America, quality healthcare is often quite affordable--both service and insurance. Part of that is that pharmacies are equipped and allowed to operate at a different scale. Here in the US, if you are sick, you schedule a doctor's appt, you wait, you go, they send you out with a prescription. If you have insurance, they charge your co-pay, hike up the charges, often lie about what they did, and hyper-charge the insurance company. You take your scrip to the pharmacist, they fill it, and hyper-charge your insurance company.
In Costa Rica or Panama, you walk into a pharmacist, who operates much like a nurse practitioner, describe your problems, and they prescribe your meds. All you pay for is the meds, and they're MUCH cheaper than here in the US.
"Hey, my wife has these symptoms..." "Oh, that's a __________ infection. Have her take these for a week. That'll be $12 US."
"Hey, the arthritis in my knee is acting up." "Oh, here's some steroids and NSAIDs."
"Hey my back is still bothering me with chronic pain." "OK. Here's some Gabapentin."
In Mexico, many pharmacies have a doctor's office attached. You go in, get seen, get scrip. $6 or so, plus the cost of prescription.
No offense Doc, but the cost of healthcare is ridiculous. I understand it's in large part due to malpractice insurance.
Think about what's happened. US Gov made health insurance a human rights issue, basically guaranteeing it and spreading the cost of coverage across those who pay for it. But the thought here is that the gov't guaranteed coverage while ignoring cost. There are some good analyses on this out there: https://www.harvardmagazine.com/2020/05/feature-forum-costliest-health-care
"So it is especially useful to pair their essay with David Cutler’s nuanced explanations of why American health care costs so much: about $3.5 trillion per year (that’s the norm, before an emergency like COVID-19)—of which one-third is wasted."

So very sorry, Brother. My issue pales in comparison but they are both symptomatic of the same problem.I know I told you all about my mom's cancer...not sure if I said anything about my granny being diagnosed with breast cancer about 2 weeks after my mom finished her treatments...
While fighting breast cancer at 83 years old, 2 months ago she fractured her back in 3 different places...she finally was able to see the back doctor last week. She suffered with a broken back for 2 months, while fighting cancer, before she finally was able to see the doctor. It's been a nightmare.
Heartbreaking.
Good points but human rights had nothing to do with either except as a cover for profit taking.Think about what's happened. Now, we also have a crisis where the younger generation is asking for us to pay for their college debt because it's so monstrous. What happened there? Well, a college education used to be fairly affordable, until the US Gov made college education a human rights issue, and guaranteed college loans to everyone (with an inability to not pay it back). In other words, the US Gov guaranteed the loan, while doing nothing to manage the cost. So, since that happened, the cost of education has skyrocketed, and an entire generation is over-paying for education, and being saddled with debt that even bankruptcy can't wipe out.
Why is it that it seems like the gov gets involved too often, gets involved in the wrong ways, and leaves the taxpayers to pay for it?
I dont understand satellite tech, its just fiber fed nonsense. The US Government is throwing B-illions in rural broadband buildout. Numbnuts is literally reinventing the Hughes tech with massive Government investment and being heralded a Genius.@InVOLuntary I received my starlink package today. I got it all set up and after 5 minutes I'm already receiving 115 MBPS. It's not in the best location for the dish, but good enough for me.
I was only receiving 4 MBPS with my old internet, I live in a rural area. I'm very happy with Starlink so far.
Numbnuts?...you're a real gem.I dont understand satellite tech, its just fiber fed nonsense. The US Government is throwing B-illions in rural broadband buildout. Numbnuts is literally reinventing the Hughes tech with massive Government investment and being heralded a Genius.
Starlink is a step above DSL, which should be criminal that companies pass that off as internet.
What the heck have you ever accomplished to call that dude a numbnuts? You ever call Soros a name like that?correct, numbnuts.View attachment 572677
