The biggest mistake we all make is trying to look at past Wars through today's perspective, it can't be done. The reasons why and the thinking of the people then can't be totally understood because we weren't there. All wars have been fought for a very few reasons, religion and philosophical agendas are the main ones but all are based on power and the struggle to keep it or obtain it. There is a reason you never discuss politics and religion with anybody you care about.

Perhaps this is a case of viewing things through a 2022 lens? I cant imagine anyone wanted to see civilians die. Esp after the holocaust. Think about, US didnt want to engage in the War. Remember, the day that would live in infamy.

I'm not justifying things. I'm saying look at the impossible position Harry Truman was in. We had lost over a quarter of a million soldiers. 4 years of war in two separate theaters, one against an unspeakable evil & other against the most ruthless, determined enemy to that time.

Not sure you can apply today's WV against that decision. I can just say i'm glad i wasnt the guy who had to make it.
Not to mention the absolute meatgrinders that Japan had turned Saipan, Pelieliu, Iwo Jima and worst of all Okinawa into.

That idiot is the result of traitorous garbage educators that teach revisionist American self loathing..oh wait...I forgot those are your peeps.

Jk...I don't think you support that traitorous 🦬💩....I just wish you could see what is being done by those people.

You loosely use the term "hippie" when they were more about ending the war in Vietnam which they were 100% correct about. Block me for agreeing with them if you like.
I use 'hippie' in two manners, one as described above - as a movement, galvanized by anti war sentiments & Woodstock,

and two, as the antithesis to Chris Ledoux's Cowboy, of Cowboy and the Hippie fame. Underrated song, iyam.

My opinion is based on 1st hand accounts from Iwo Jima, which are now 2nd hand because both of those men who fought there have passed on.

They are not mutually exclusive. Japan was a horrific machine that had to be stopped. America is not without its evil deeds though. They both are true.

I believe we actually try to do the right thing as a nation with a conscience...I agree with you on our leaders sometimes. We have been blessed with greatness at important points, and cursed with garbage in others.

More unified than 1000+ independent tribes with a fair percentage of those at war with each other. If you think we stole this land, do your part and move back to Western Europe.
You know for a fact that they were all these tribes at war with each other from the accounts written by whom exactly?

Wtf how do some geurilla fighters justify dropping two nukes on civilians? They were trying to surrender before that, but we had cut off diplomatic contact.
We killed more Japs in the fire-bombing of Tokyo. Was that ok?

Sorry, you’re right. The white devil is a liar. It’s their fault the natives were illiterate and didn’t record their own history.
