Brown said Callahan essentially threw Super Bowl XXXVII by changing the offensive game plan the Friday before the game.

Ex-receiver says Callahan threw Super Bowl

"We all called it sabotage . . . because Callahan and Gruden were good friends," Brown said. "And Callahan had a big problem with the Raiders, you know, hated the Raiders. You know, only came [to Oakland] because Gruden made him come.

"But the facts are what they are, that less than 36 hours before the game we changed our game plan. And we go into that game absolutely knowing that we have no shot. That the only shot we had [was] if Tampa Bay didn't show up."

just thought it was interesting. Caught a little bit from Golic on M&M this morning and he said that if it's true it's very strange.

I doubt there is any validity to a coach sabotaging his own SB chances. Peter King this morning was saying if Callahan changed things, it's because Gruden knew their system. He didn't do it to sabotage the Raiders.

One Raiders player said they changed the gameplan because All-Pro C Barrett Robbins went missing.

Lord knows I would rather forfeit the Super Bowl victory over to my buddy than win it for myself. It's an ugly trophy anyway.

And now Brown is backing off of that on Dan Patrick's show. He said that it can't be said that it was sabotage and you can't prove that it was. And that the new game plan was the old game plan.

I'm not sure he backed off as much as he clarified that people were wondering what Callahan was doing and "sabotage" came up in conversation.

Also said that the gameplan got changed before Barrett Robins went AWOL and may have contributed to his problems. He came off sounding pretty honest about it. The point being, everybody thought it was nuts to swap game plans the Friday before the Super Bowl.
