Considering his appearance with Stephen Colbert that pretty much mocks the entire election system, does anyone else think this was all just a set up to sell his book? He also quoted Pokemon and got his 9-9-9 plan from Sim City.

I think he was doing a publicity stunt that he hoped would turn real. When it didn't, he now would like to pass it all off as less than totally serious to avoid embarrassment.

Newts sex scandal was made public in the late 1990's. The only new information about Newt is he ask his wife to have an open marriage. That is not breaking news.

That was the final straw. There was feeling from the staff that he wasn't taking the campaign seriously and was only doing it for promotion. After the cruise, that is when they got fed up and left.
