I think instant replay would agree with Yogi. Had that call gone the other way, that moment in baseball history would have been virtually erased. Some great moments in baseball are only enhanced by the debates that ensue. The only thing that is not in dispute is this was one of the great moments in baseball history.

Watching the replay, it looked like Yogi had the glove down in the baseline and Jackie slid into the tag, and then the photo I think clearly shows that Yogi tagged him before he crossed the plate. Jackie Robinson is a legend in history, and broke a barrier that not many at that time wanted to see broken. We, as a society, have come a long way, but unfortunately, we probably still have a ways to go.

Fortunately, for a lot of us, we don’t see skin color, just the name across the front of the jersey.
GBO!!

Then, so does every other society on the planet.

I was a kid at the time and remember the controversy that has raged all these years. I have seen many documentaries on the scoop and have not seen one that convinced me he didn't catch it. Unfortunately, I don't think the full frame of the camera shot captured the critical moment when the ball could have possibly touched turf. But for me, and I'm not a Steelers fan, there is no evidence to overturn the call of "catch".

No one is safe at home. Just don't answer the door and carry. Carry anything.

Did Michael Phelps out touch Milorad Cavic?

Robinson - out
Harris - catch
Bream - safe
Oswald - alone.

All these are fun, but the only one I want to know is - Did Gaffney catch that damn ball? 😃......😠
Nope. Only problem is there was 15 seconds left and that play was 2nd down. Gators still had 2 more chances or kick a game tying field goal as well so may be a moot point. Here is the video. It was not a catch and a blind man could tell you it wasn't!
