While Bush may not have been the phenomenal running back that everyone was expecting him to be, he was every bit of the player the Saints needed to jump start the current state of the franchise. He opened things up for the rest of the offense. His contributions to the scheme had a direct reflection of the Saint's success. Reggie was productive and helped lead the Saints to being recognized as the top offense in the NFL and lead us to a Super Bowl. Not to mention he was a class act, stand up guy. He wasn't a bust and I hope he does great in Miami.

Bust, but not everyone thought he would be more than a third down back

Oh come on. Not a bust. Overrated coming out of the draft, yes. Underachieved, yes. Not a bust IMO though.

It seems that New Orleans bought into the hype machine by taking him there, he more or less turned out to be what many expected.

So if he ended his career now he wouldn't be considered a bust?

Sorry, but I have to disagree there......especially considering how hyped he was and how high in the draft he went.

I wouldn't say bust since he contributed to a super bowl championship team but he's right there.

I would think a "bust" is a player who does not make a significant (positive) contribution, not simply one that does not meet expectations. If Bush is a bust then you probably can call 50% off all guys drafted a bust.

He morphed into a different role player that the coaches knew would showcase his skills.

I voted no.

For a player drafted number 2 overall, yes he's a bust.

He did what he needed to do though. He brought a buzz to the franchise and was a fantastic return man. He won a ring there too.

He's a bust, but not an all-time guy. He was dangerous and defenses paid attention to him. There's decent value in that alone.

If we had a 2006 redraft now, Bush wouldn't even be a first round pick. The Saints took him #2 overall.

Dude was drafted 2nd overall, regarded as a "can't-miss" prospect, and someone that was supposed to be the next Gale Sayers. Does he have a better NFL career than most? Yes, but his production has been that of a 4th round pick. Punt returners and 3rd down backs shouldn't be drafted 2nd overall.

For his draft position and the money invested, yes, he is a bust.
