Washington beats #3 USC

CPC will still get a pass and labled the best coach in the country. I don't buy it. He may the be the best recruiter but I would take CUM or CNS anyday before CPC.

Corp is horrible. No wonder barkley beat him out

That's what I was thinking. USC blows them out with Barkley and it isn't even close. LSU fans probably think they are awesome for barely beating Washington now. Not having Barkley-Corp is proof of what a quarterback means. I expect Crompton-Bray to be a huge upgrade. :p

Pete Carroll is an amazing coach. Urban is great too, it's a tie in my book.

Pete Carroll must be missing his O coordinators

And his QB Barkley

I couldn't be any less surprised. Despite the fact that Pete Carrol stockpiles talent at USC, they are good for one inexplicable loss every season. I would love to see how Carrol would do at a school outside a high school talent hotbed.

USC will let Carroll stay as long as he's bringing in Pac-10 titles, and I sincerely doubt Carroll has any desire to go anywhere else. He's going to be there for a long, long time.

Jake Locker may single-handedly get Washington to a bowl game. He's the Pac-10's best QB right now.

I have no doubt that Carrol can stay at USC as long as he wishes. But I would like to see if he truly is a great head coach, or just a beneficiary of coaching at a school that's located in one of the most talent-rich areas in the country.

Like I said, could be that I'm a NW homer... But I would put Locker as one of the 3 best QB's in the country, and (unless I'm forgetting somebody) the best pro prospect in college ball right now.

Re: Vol_4_Life Simply being in a talent hotbed doesn't guarantee any success. IMO you can draw direct comparisons to both FSU and Miami. The state of Florida seems to produce far and away the most high school talent in the country, enough to feed three programs. Those two programs have been floundering for a while, even in a conference I'm sure most here would admit is even weaker than the Pac-10. Bottom line: You absolutely need talent to win conference titles on the regular, but you can have talent and still suck.

It's hard to say how good Carroll is on his own merits and without those recruits, because if he does choose to go anywhere else, you know he's bringing that southern California pipeline with him. Football aside, he's also a hero in the community. Go back and find that thread where there's a video of him going into poor south central neighborhoods and talking to troubled youth, gang members, etc. Parents down there take notice of that sort of thing. He could go to freakin' UTEP and pull top 20 classes with SoCal talent for the next decade.

locker played fine against sc, but aaron corp won that game for UW, not locker or UW. that was the worst performance i've EVER seen from an usc qb. and i'm including hte hacket era.

droski i'm sure your boys are licking their chops to get at USC this yr. BTW Best is a beast...caught some of him in action this past weekend.

if corp starts we win easily. i never count sc as a win though. they always seem to rally when they start looking sucky and they'll get 4 starters back for the cal game that they didn't have against UW.

SC always falls in the trap game... be it Oregon State, Stanford or Washington.

They'll play up for Cal. Should be a good game, especially if Barkley starts.

exactly. i think they were actually up for UW. if sanchez had returned they would have won the last two games by 3 tds minimum. if barkley matures quickly they'll be one of the top-5 teams in the country by the end of the season.

And they should, especially since his teams are also always nationally relevant.

Here is a thought: one of the reasons USC keeps falling victim to "upsets" is that every time they lose, it is an upset. It is tough to run the table every year, or even stumble only once. The other guys are often good, and players get hurt, or graduate, or have an off day. Carroll has USC positioned for a shot at the BCS every single year. I really don't know what more you could ask from a coach.
