Jim Riggleman just quit after winning 11 of 12 games, anyone with a clue as to why?

Not knowledgeable about the situation at all, but needs to be health, family, or ownership meddling.

Not what I was expecting at all.

Should cause him some problems down the road if only over contract dispute. And rightfully so.

Yup.

He straight up quit on his team.

Any reason why they didn't extend his contract?

Funny it happened about an hour after Kurkjian's "Team on the Rise" story about the Nats went up on espn.com

I honestly think with the young talent they have up and the ones there about to bring up they were wanting to go with a more proven route.

Indeed, he wasn't going to the manager for the next five years but still, he could have finished the year out.

That's the balls of a guy who has been around the game for some time.

It doesn't seem as if he asked for a meeting or anything, just a "Check yes or no" situation. That's a guy who isn't very intelligent outside of baseball.

In an interview afterwards he said all he asked for was a meeting to discuss his extension and the Nats told him they weren't ready to do such a thing yet.

To me it seems like neither party was really sure where the other one was going with their statements. Eh, too late now. Have fun in Japan or the Northern League, Jim

The interview I heard tonight, he said that he had approached management and the family numerous times for a meeting to see where he stood regarding his future with the team. After not being able to get any type of meeting with anyone, he said that he figured his future with them must be in doubt. Said he couldn't operate that way. If true, I can't blame him.
