I'm disappointed I've seen people talk about how these games are "meaningless". What an incredible game and finish.

I'm super pumped about Tenn Clemson and I really hope everyone on the field (both teams) are super pumped and give it their all. Of course I would love Tenn to beat the brakes off them but a part of me hopes it's as exciting as this game was with Tenn squeaking it out.

It's the freaking orange bowl. Let's go!

The Arkansas/Kansas game was good too. They seemed to want to win.

Both of those games were great to watch for actual football fans.

Was kind of surprised at how solid the UNC defense looked given how many times they had been shredded during the year.

Nix, despite his great stats, still looked like Nix from Auburn to me last night.

That Arkansas game had 2 of the better players in the country that gets no mention in Jefferson and Sanders.

Was happy to flip over and see Kiffin getting torched by Texas Tech. He has gone well past the expiration date on his gimmicks with me. Caught a few plays with the fake injuries yet again.

Well, I think people are looking at the word meaningless in the wrong context. First, the ones that have opted out are not there so yeah, the ones playing are giving their all and want to be there.
IMO, what people are saying about meaningless is, back before the playoffs there was just a mythical Champion and some years 3 or 4 teams claimed Natty in different Polls from the AP to the lowly Litkenhous and several others. I mean our AD and Coach had a Natty at UCF. So, in that respect they've narrowed it down and it's watered down the rest of the Bowls. I think everything will change when they get 12 teams in 2025.
So basically in 2025, you will have 11 playoff/Bowl games that have real meaning as like Basketball you are win an advance toward the REAL Natty. Outside these 11 games the other will still have their opt outs and everything else related with players with nagging injuries that could play but don't and so on.

WHAT A COUPLE GAMES. I agree UNC Oregon game was awesome.

I messed up and switched off the 3 OT thriller comeback game :(

The games last night did seem to have high levels of competitiveness. I expect the same energy for our Orange Bowl! Very excited for tomorrow night!

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!

When I was 9 years old and played in games I played to win, the coaches wanted to win, the parents wanted us to win, and there were a few fans that didn’t care who won but they found it entertaining to watch us play. Was it nice that we had the opportunity to play-yes. Was it important that we won or loss-no.

Bowl games exist because people find them entertaining and want to watch!!! The games are meaningful to various degrees to the players/coaches/schools and those making (or losing) money.

I’ll watch a few of the playoff games and the only team I really care about winning is Tennessee. Even though I care about Tennessee winning and am excited when they play, in the big picture of real life (like when the doctor called to say my wife had cancer) the outcome is not important. Watching the game takes my mind off things that really are important.

I think the bowl games, especially the high profile ones, are important for recruiting purposes. Some of the kids who have Tennessee as one of their finalists can watch and decide what it may be like for them if they choose to come to UT. The bowl game may turn out to be the determining factor for them. And as others have pointed out, it's an opportunity for the next group of guys to get game experience, which will be big next season.

Our Orange Bowl is a program milestone moment. 2nd season & the chance to get to 11 wins. This shows we are back in the top tier of college football teams. All-Time wins puts us in the convo, but what CJH is doing is what will keep is there. He'll have our guys ready and pumped to play. He's told them of this games importance for the future. They helped build it, and are the foundation of the turnaround. One day, this team will be back in Neyland Stadium being honored for this 11 win season and Orange Bowl Champion.

They're only meaningless to the people who want them to be meaningless - that's anyone involved with the Sacred Holy Supreme College Football Playoff, for the record. Unfortunately, those same people have a death grip on college sports and have no intention of loosening their hold. Have to make that money.

The Arkansas/Kansas game was good too. They seemed to want to win.

Who seemed to want to win? The Arkansas team ran a reverse sweep with 3 mins left and up by 15. It seemed alot of show boating and the refs didn't care much about the game either.

The players were playing to win....except for the Kansas receiver who threw that last pass.

I can go you one better: I actually left the Kansas-Arkansas game after KU turned it over on downs and Arky hit big pass for 1st down with 3 minutes left and up 15. At least I wasn't alone thousands were streaming out at same time. Hit the gate with 2:00 left in game and somehow missed last six touchdowns. Ouch.

It's meaningless until you roll a ball out between dudes who want to compete.
In college football today, those that want to compete are out there playing in the games. Those that don't have opted out. Good riddance.

When power 5 is playing a power 5 the game is usually competitive as long as their records are close. Nobody wants to lose. Unless you are Ole Miss and go for it at your own end 3 times and fail . Then call a fake punt at your own 29 . Then find yourself down 27-7 to a Texas Tech team that came to play. Lane Kiffin sucks .

I agree, as a mediocre HS athlete I never played in a game I didn't want to win. Grammar school, Jr High, HS, church league and intermurals it was fun to compete with the other guys. Played in front of crowds of 11,000 and 11, didn't make any difference to me.
