And i believe we had a legitimate shot at beating them. If we can push the tempo Pitt has a hard time getting back and defending. Also, i expect Pearl to have full court press a lot of the game and really putting the pressure on the ball. Go Vols:loco::loco::loco::loco:

What happened to our legit shot? I kid.

I agree. They are just another overrated Big East team. They are getting a lot of the "returned 5 starters" hype - just like Florida. Problem is...those 5 starters weren't even that great last year.

Not saying we win, but we have a good shot.

We will not be full court pressing a lot.

If we do, I'll be leaving at halftime to go to Primanti Brothers.

Fed-Ex me a "Hot Sausage and Cheese", and "Pitts-burgher cheese steak" sammich.

I'm scheduling another trip up there during the hockey playoffs, staying at the Hampton next to the Primanti Brothers over in Cranberry Township. Hell of a place .

dont see our forwards matching up physically with them in a half court set.

So that means go to full court press? This is not a full court press team; this is a half-court, hard-nosed, team defense team. I'm sure if we are getting beat inside then we will switch to a zone, but in no way do I see us pressing for maybe more than a handful of times.

We should have Williams, Fields, Hall, Harris, Pearl, and Maymon to throw out there based on the situation.

I think we'll be ok, especially since their starting 5 is no offensive threat at all.

They only have 2 players that avg double digit points (both guards) and we've been great at shutting (slowing) down team's best weapons.

their 3rd leading scorer is a 6-6 forward, so its not like he is some huge mismatch for us and their 4th/5th leading scorers are both freshmen forwards.

No. but full court is an option. i know Pearl will have a scheme to stop them. going to zone might play into their hands as they also have solid guards who can penetrate

Ya Fields and williams will both say "man i just dont feel like playing physical today".

Dude we will be fine in the post and lil pearl will annoy the hell out of their forwards.

Yea i was wondering the same thing. I know this is early in the season but i dont know what our definite style of play is. Half-court or up-tempo. But as long as we are winning it doesnt matter.I just remember reading in pre-season that we were going back to "controlled chaos"

I hope your right. McGee is a dominating presence inside and its going to be interesting watching Fields/Williams go to work. I just feel like if we force the tempo, it will give us a better chance to beat them offensively. Our half court defense has been nothing but spectacular so far this year

what in the world are you spouting?

Mcgee averaged 5 and 5 before tonight, there is nothing "dominating" about him. He is the exact type of guy I'd like to play against at the 5 against a top team.

He isn't a guy that is going to kill our D and drop 20 on us

So why on earth would you advocate abandoning it against the best team we'll play during the regular season?

i am saying offensively being up-tempo will help us. again this is the first time ive seen pitt play all year but i noted they had a hard time getting back on D. getting out in transition with our guards in the open court should help us out more as opposed to dribbling the ball till the shot clock hits 10 and then getting into our set offense. Don't worry. The Vols will knock off their second Big East opponent in a row.

also dont think pitt has the depth on the bench. hopefully we can get mgee into early foul trouble. i know goins will be in ashton gibbs lap all night long.

I don't know why we would go to a zone. Our perimeter defense has been dominating. I expect Ashton Gibbs to struggle shooting the 3 against us. Hopefully, Bone will be ready to go and Goins, Bone, Golden can frustrate him to have an off night. To win we will need to break even on the Rebounds. Pitt has dominated the boards against every team except TX. 46 avg. rb/game vs. opponenant's 28 avg. rb/game. We even the rebounds then I think we beat Pitt.

Tennessee doesn't have to do anything special to beat Pitt, other than bring that defense they've been playing with them.
